A wonderful movie. I finally saw it on hotel cable in Manchester, UK last year. The build-up to the final relationship is exquisitely done: loved her devoted act of self-restraint.

I have this movie at home. My boyfriend and I watch it occasionally. When anyone with a fetish or a liking of BDSM, bondage, etc is considered violent, misogynistic, sick, or crazy, this movie was pretty refreshing. A deviant romantic comedy. I think Spader and Gyllenhaal did a great job.

The first time I saw this movie, I was in college...and hadn't "come out" as kinky to anyone...not even myself...Maggie and James got the D/s dynamic down BRILLIANTLY...and made me realize that I wasn't alone, that it's ok to enjoy whatever you enjoy, and that Maggie G is HOTT!!!

I LOVE this movie...it's in my top 10 of all time...<3

I saw it for the first time very recently on IFC (Independent Film Channel). From the brief description on my DVR, I was afraid it was going to be a cheap thrills, low budget disaster and was prepared to bail early. Still, I thought, IFC is not Skinamax. What a pleasant surprise that it was that good, well acted, well written, completely unique, wonderful film. The relationship was heroic and inspiring.
