Gummo was never onscreen with the brothers Marx. Zeppo(who was cool) was part of the team for 5 films and quit after "Duck Soup". Shemp, on the other hand, is never really gone, he's always close by.

Shemp was, in reality, NOT blood related to the Howards, but was played by Shakespearean/Vaudeville actor Reginald T. Klavitz. He was hired as a temporary replacement for short-lived stooge member Timothy "Moikle" Howard who had broken his femur in a stunt, but the chemistry worked so well, they decided to keep him and develop a publicity ruse that he was a brother to Moe and Curly Howard... a ruse that persists to this day. His false 'Howard identity' is still 'foolin' them' in Hollywood history books and the internet, such as Wikipedia.

If there is a heaven, and I believe there is, I know Shemp is there... smiling down at us all.... eating pink cotton candy clouds... and never need worry about clean underwear evermore. My god that's a lovely thought. It really gets to me. Chokes me up. Shemp love from above. More magical than a Kincaid painting.
