Snow Predicted Tuesday Night Into Wednesday-AGAIN!

Well hell. Looks like it's snowing. A lot.

Here we go again........ :snow:

It's windy and snow showers on and off here in central CT. The grass is covered again. But roads are still clear. We lucked out on the first part. But, since the nor'easter is supposed to explode off the coast later on, we'll get nailed this afternoon and evening. They're calling for blizzard conditions for the evening rush. Oh joy!

Everyone stay safe out there!

I just awakened from a nap a bit ago, as there isnt much else to do on a day like this, and learned that a Blizzard Warning was issued from Lancaster County as of 940am this morning, effective until 7pm Eastern tonight. Snowfall in "Lancaster" was 11.5 inches as of 930am, which means that about 33 inches has fallen since Friday. The small terrace outside my apt looks like a snow mountain, and I'm seriously hoping that the weight of the snow doesnt collapse it.

One weather report said more snow for Monday night into Tuesday next week. I hope not. It's enough already!

Talked with my brother in Wilmington a bit ago. They lost power earlier. Finally starting to snow in earnest here.

NEWS UPDATE!!!!!!

Governor Rendell has ordered I-81 from the Maryland Line to I-80 CLOSED, also I-83 to I-81, and I-78 to The New Jersey Line are CLOSED. Too many trucks are getting stuck and then need to be towed so that the snow plows can operate. :woot:

Sorry to hear about your brother losing power, Ann. So far, knock on wood, we've been lucky. We've lost power many times during snowstorms here.

They have just increased the predicted accumulations. The original prediction when the storm first started, was for between 6 and 12 inches. The latest forecast I heard, now predicts accumulations of 20 inches in Lancaster, York, and Harrisburg. If Lancaster gets the 20 inches forecasted, that, combined with the 22 inches we had on Friday and Saturday ,would make nearly four feet of snow in just four days time. Incredible.

Channel 6 in Philadelphia is predicting another snowstorm from Monday night into Tuesday. Hopefully, if something does come, it will be flurries, or only light snow.

I live in the bronx and its actually snowing very hard here. A blizzard warning has been issued for new york and washington dc.:ty: and god bless :bow2:

Right now, TWC is saying it looks to be only snow showers with a low accumulation. So, unless something changes, that one shouldn't be too bad. Still after all you've already got, anything is too much.

The PA & NJ turnpikes are currently on snow emergency status and likely closing down soon as well. There've already been some roof collapses. They expect to see more, esp. on buildings with a flat roof. At least the bulk of the rain/sleet is now off the shoreline...though the snow itself is still pretty heavy and wet this time. We have a roof rake, but aren't likely to see enough to have to use it.

With the snow getting so deep down there, folks also need to be aware of any vents from gas powered appliances (furnace, hot water heater, etc.) and be sure they don't get blocked. Those using wood stoves and fireplaces need to be sure your venting is clear as well. Carbon monoxide poisoning is always a danger with this much snow building up.

Ann, you're right about roof collapses being a problem. They talked about one at a company in the Philly burbs somewhere.

The snow has tapered off to just a light snow here, and should be ending soon, thankfully. Accumulations range between 16 and 18 inches across areas of the county that are near me.

I agree with you that even a bit of snow Monday into Tuesday would be too much. My area has had over three feet of snow in the last four days. It would be nice to have a break from that for a while.

^May have to start another Snow Thread come Monday.^ :disgust:

Carl, from what I heard, Monday is supposed to be a light snow. I wont be starting one for a minor storm, unless someone else wants to. The three storms that I've started threads for, were major ones.

Welllllllll....! It ended up being a total dud here in central CT. The shoreline got up to 11 inches. But, we only ended up with 3 here. It's very cold and windy. But, aside from that, you'd hardly know there'd been a major storm. One of the models for the next storm moving across actually brings in up for a pretty direct hit on us. But, I think that's going to stay south as well...hitting GA and the Carolinas...which look like they're about to get it already from the system currently dumping more snow on TX than we got here. It's not fair!!! Wahhhhh!!!

At Noontime Today.

I-78 was still closed in Lebanon County.

US Route 30 was still closed West of Chambersburg.

Just got word that Indiantown Gap has not been plowed.

The wind is gusting causing roads to drift shut. :disgust:
