So, does anybody like Mortal Kombat?

Yep yep, it seems if Ed Boon has made this the 'ultimate' MK because it's so hyped, that when people unlocked the measly Liu Kang, children were creaming their tighty whities all across America. Imagine if Ed Boon didn't lie about the 'super unlockables'....supposedly, there are 'nearly limitless' unlockable characters....but I suspect this to be another ploy to keep the game's lifespan longer. They brought back old favorites this time, like Baraka, Mileena (you can ALMOST see her whole foot/feet through her boots....yum!!), Ermac, Jade, Tanya (why Tanya? she was from that failed experiment called Mortal Kombat 4), Kabal, Nightwolf, Liu Kang, Noob Saibot and Smoke....as a 'team'....and Sindel. yeah, I named all the ones that weren't in the last one. Gee, I wonder if Sub-Zero and Scorpion are in it 😉

THe sick thing about MK now is that everyone has different fighting styles that you can choose from.

Less violent games 'bout fighting styles I like has got to be the Tekken saga. It's also based on fighting styles of which I only know one MK for PS2 which name I've forgotten (but I played it in demo-version 😛). It still is the feature that makes fighting games to be that popular nowadays. How longer time advances how more realistic the moves become (still with unreal stamina, defense, etc... though, the playability just keeps the fun factor higher that way).

To talk about realistic or not. I total unrealistic violent game hated by many (for it showing too bad influence to our youth) has got to be Grand Theft Auto with the emphasis on Vice City (can't wait for San Andreas). Still the fun factor makes it all back good.

One other game I also like but then for it's realism are Half-Life mods like Counter-Strike (blamed for several school shoot-outs in the US) and Day of Defeat. But I'm not a full time gamer, it's just every once in a while some of the games can ease my boredom at times.

I can't wait to try this one...I was deadly with the cybernetic Smoke. I'm anxious to see how they work Kabal's move set, cuz the idea of the character always intrigued me, but his moves just weren't practical for me to beat some serious ass with. Kind of reminds me of what they did to Sub-Zero in Deadly Alliance...that's why I stuck with Frost...and of course Scorpion.

Kabal's a little different. Basically, he's much more "badass" than before, for a few obvious reasons:
1) He has his hookswords back (The story goes like this: Mavado nearly killed Kabal, and took his hookswords as 'trophies'. So in Deception, Kabal comes back, and murders Mavado, and reclaims his swords)
2) He's all muscley like a badass, instead of a skinny little dude
3) He's the new leader of the 'Black Dragon'
He uses the Sun Bin and Goju Ryu styles, and of course, his infamous hook swords. The problem is, he doesn't really have any huge combos. But, all of his stances have combos that switch into another, even from his Hook Swords back to Sun Bin. He only has 3 movies: His fireball, that move that makes him rush past the enemy while they spin, and a new move, called the 'Nomad's Touch'....not really much of a move. Somehow, Kabal has telekinetic powers. He basically uses them to force himself and the enemy together in a collision, and they both fall over backwards. It seems more 'comical' than useful. He has some interesting fatalities though:
1: He makes them spin, and then he takes out a hook sword, and just sticks it in them while they spin, and he slowly moves it downward, causing their body parts to fly off.
2: He takes out a hooksword (surprise surprise), then he knocks them into the air, and as they come down, he swings upward and cuts them in half.

I always had a soft spot for the disfigured characters.

I was hoping he'd use the cord from his respirator and strangle someone with it. I've always wanted more earthy fatalities...strangulation, throat slitting that sort of thing.

Mortal kombat is decent, i have always found my favorite fighting game to be street fighter. RPG's are where my heart rests especially final fantasy and then Diablo 2 as well. I have had a nintendo since the second grade. As the ame states playing games has been my distinction for many a good year

Street Fighter's cool and all, buuuut....it needs BLOOD and GUTS and all that good violence. Hehe I like violence. 😀 Basically the most 'violent' character in all of SF is Akuma, because he actually uses the 'killing intent'. Come on! Everyone in MK is built for murder! MK vs Street Fighter wouldn't play out well, Street Fighter would get trounced. 😛
