As of now they have canceled trains south of Washington, DC, but service between Washington and Boston continues. 😀Will not be able to take a train southbound, as Amtrak is cancelling service along the East Coast.
As Hurricane Irene continues to progress, Amtrak has canceled most train service operating south of Washington for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Additional announcements will be made in the coming days as the major storm moves north.
Most trains on the Northeast Corridor are not yet affected. In addition, other Amtrak services in North Carolina and in Virginia are currently operating as scheduled.
The following cancellations have been made for the origination date of Friday, Aug. 26:
Northeast Regional Trains 67 and 83 (Boston – Newport News) will terminate in Washington
I was in Baltimore when you posted that. 😀Is hiding out somewhere today. Will not be able to ride the subway because of being closed.
