Someone very dear to me is missing, need advice please

i know this is none of my business, but,if you have all this evidence that this man is pretending to be this girl...then you need to contact the authorities as soon as possible...i know your heart is telling you to wait, that she might be real...but if you wait will someone else pay a terrible price...possibly with their lives?...can you really afford to take that chance?...my personal opinion is that you cant...but whatever you decide i wish you all the best...good luck...i sincerely hope this helps you somehow...and if you feel like you wanna talk some more about this feel free to drop me a line here or at [email protected]

this is a very long awaited bump. i was just wondering how everything turned out for u. i had a similar expierience a few years ago, just on a much smaller time scale, so i know what u were going through when this stuff was going on.

I don't know kid, but maybe she is a real fraud, maybe she's really that guy (her uncle) and this guy only did invent all this idea for to get you and to tickle you. Tell me, is this guy an old person?, how old he's?.

My thoughts exactly. Haven't read the whole thread yet but, sounds like you've been duped in the most classic of online ways.

edit: Hate to sound arrogant here but, you foolishly thought you had all of the bases covered. You were running pretty well but, you made one major mistake. You didn't bring psychology in to play. Aparently this guy is pretty intelligent in the psychotic sense. However he did screw up a bit with that last email but, that most likely came from letting his guard down and becoming cocky. You must never ever underestimate the capabilities of the human mind. Now that the internet exists it seems that more psychos are coming out of the woodwork these days and worst of all it seems that they're becoming more and more clever all of the time. Keep that in mind and let this fantasy go before it becomes your last.

Something is REALLY screwy about the whole situation, and I think you're in for a world of hurt if you pursue this.

Very simply, my advice is: Don't walk away -- RUN!!!

Best of luck,

I'd say that pretty much sums it up..........

don't stress, other key factors maybe at play, her computer may be broken and may need repairs or a new one, and being a student short on cash, that may take forever to fix. you should've exchanged phone numbers.

Even if somehow her computer was broken for 9 months, that wouldn't explain the IP issue.

Dude, sorry to say it but it really looks like you got duped. You shouldn't start an online relationship with anyone unless you webcam with them or talk to them on the phone at least once. Otherwise you'd never know for sure. Talking to family members online isn't evidence even in the slightest. Even if her uncle was a distint relative he could have set something up by now.

That's what I do. I met a friend a while back who I'd been close friends with, much in the same fashion as you, Dirsc, but there's a difference between plain chat and webcam/phone/etc. Before I met her, I had already seen her on webcam several times, and since I didn't have one, borrowed one from someone in order to show her that I was not a fraud either. We'd talked on the phone as well.

Everyone has to remember that if you think you've taken enough precaution, then you haven't taken enough. Meeting people in person that you've met on the net is VERY tricky business.

You are still connected to The Internet(tm)! Do you wish to remain online? (y/n)

I most certainly hope it is alright for you. I remember I met Selen in person....eewww....it happened today.

(Before anyone offers further advice, please note that this thread is almost a year old and the matter was most likely resolved a long time ago.)

Yes indeed. A two year old thread started by a guy who never posted before or since. There's a couple of things that nobody else seemed to mention in this thread that caught my eye. First, how believable is it for a guy to except tickling from his online girlfriend's uncle as a proxy? I mean, the concept of "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with" only goes so far. Anybody with me on this?

Secondly, he talked about having a solid legal case, as if some kind of law was broken. Unless somebody was soliciting money from him, I don't see from this thread where any crime was committed. Sure, he was fucked with emotionally, but if that ever becomes a crime we'd better triple our current national law enforcement staffing.
