In my life I try to devoid myself of attachments and things that cause you pain, more often than not I find that Buddhist philosophy is trying to make you devoid of emotions which is impossible for people I think. Not even Darth Vader could do it! Anyway I was driving in my car and I heard a song that made me think of my soulmate Tanya who I lost because of reasons that I actually found out are common reasons for "soulmates" to part. I'll never forget her as long as I live and this song seemed to describe how I now feel in a nutshell. The song was Like We Never Loved At All by Faith Hill. Funny how a guy whos favorite bands are Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, WASP, etc. could be brought to tears like a 14 year old girl. I was wondering while I listened to the lyrics if Tanya was hurt after our relationship ended...I suppose i'll never know. Anyone else have a song that makes you cry because of a lost love? :sadcry:

Actually... cuz I suck so bad at not being able to pick the right fella... it isn't a song about a lost love that gets me a little misty eyed... but one about what I'm lookin' for.

Michael Bolton (yeah... I listen to him every now and again) sings a song called "Completely."

Everytime I think I have found something good... well... let's just say... I might just as well give up.

Wow! You look just like my mother did when she was young and in her prime holding me as an infant in the early 70's Mz. Chaos!!! Except your hair is more contemporary of course! The resemblance is uncanny!! Y'know they say every person has a twin. I think I found my mothers! Unreal! I hope you find a better guy than my dad Mz. Chaos. I'm sure you will!! 🙂

I'm not sure whether to be flattered or feel sorry for your mom...
It is cool to know my twin had a ticklephile!!! Does this make me your auntie??? Either way... I'm gonna take this as a compliment. Grins...

Well we must have each other's blood in our veins cuz I was just typing are you my long lost aunt? 😛 We already think on the same wavelengths Mz. Chaos! Wow! When the day comes when my mom is no longer with us will you adopt me? You could have a 34 year old, balding son with 4 tattoos! Who could pass that up?? :woot:

It would be an honor!!! Course... you're a little too old for me to be your mom... there isn't that much of an age spread between us... but feel free to call me Auntie Chaos... as an only child... the only way I'll get to be an aunt is if I adopt other folks kids.

You know that cheesy long song from Celine Dion called "Where Does My Heart Beat Now"? That was playing on the radio the first time one of my old flames told me she loved me. (She went on to become the women I so wanted to marry, but didn't...but that's another story...😉)

Not that I hear that song that much these days...I don't listen to any of the "contemporary stations" that would play it, so I think I'm on solid ground. Though if I ever hear snippets of it, I go right back to thinking about her.

Fire and Rain by James Taylor
Dreamin Again by Jim Croce
Behind Blue Eyes by the Who
Morning Dew by the Grateful Dead

all the same person. LONG time ago but music always brings it right back up quick, doesn't it?

Two of them, but not for the fact we broke up. Rather, because I REALLY lost them. One was my first serious love, Al, who committed suicide in 1994 and who I still miss terribly to this day. And the second was my best friend in the whole world, Jeff, who died in 1998 from complications related to his Juvenile Diabetes (though there were suspicious circumstances in the case).

Anyway, those two songs are:

"Can't Cry Hard Enough" by The Williams Brothers
and
"Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton.

God, I miss them so.... :dropatear

Yeah I gotta keep away from those "Lite Music" stations as well in the car. That's a beehive for songs like those. From now on it's sports radio and classic rock while on the road! :Hyrdrogen

Tonight I want to cry- Keith Urban

But I don't cry....just makes me a little sad. I don't cry much if at all. The way I was raised.

"Heaven (Brian Adams)," "You Belong To The City (whoever)," and "We Built This City (Starship - really lousy song)" all remind me of a particular person. Probably because they're all 80s songs and I met the person in the 80s. I've actually come to terms with her, but some things never leave you.

Recently, I heard a country song that, quite unfortunately, I was able to relate to. I despise country music with every fiber of my being. But this song really reminded me of something that happened not long enough ago. I don't know the title, but the lyrics are something like "what hurts the most, was coming so close, then watching you walk away...something, something, lalala..."

well can a baby be considered a lost love? because if so..then "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton..

That would be "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts.

I don't hate country music with every fiber of my being and am glad I could help you out with this.

Hi, Lightninbug! Joe Brown's performance of "I'll See You In My Dreams" always brings a tear to my eyes. Here's the video for those who haven't cried in a while:

You won't believe this one....

but it's a pop song from the 1940s called "My Little Playmate".
She and I were both 15 when she was killed by ALS.
That's Amlyotropic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gherig's Disease.
It was just one year from first onset to death.
She was training to be a ballerina. Her dancing was the loveliest sight I had ever seen.
First the disease stole her grace, then her ability to move at all, then her life.
It took me years to stop hating God for that.
We had been friends since we were three.
I was holding her hand when she died, because her parents knew we loved each other.
That dumb little tune had been 'our song' since we played the 78 RPM record on her mom's record player when we were five.

"My little playmate come out
and play with me,
And bring your puppies three,
Climb up my apple tree,
shout in my rain barrel
slide down my cellar door,
And we’ll be jolly friends forever more."

I know, I know. We were five years old when we made it our song.
We always 'knew' we would stay together forever. We would grow up together, get married, and live together for life, and then die and be together in heaven. Show's you how much we knew.
She was a virgin and I wasn't, and we were both looking forward to changing her status on our wedding noght after we graduated college. She knew she was gonna get tickled that night and was looking forward to that too.
We thought we had all the time in the world.

Here it is, 43 years later, and I still can't hear that song without crying.
It was bad enough that she had to die, but that she had to die THAT WAY was just so DAMNED unfair.

Sorry for the rant, folks. It still hurts.
