Ok, now this is getting bad enough that it needs its own post. i have seen many posts and replys to posts that are perfectly harmless just disapear from this board becaus of they are of a political party or ideology that the moderators dont agree with.

the last post to "disapear" was a repy to the "quotes and freedom" post by qjakal. i responed to the a quote by margeret thatcher, and explained how she couldnt be for freedom, because of her support for fascism in chile. the reply was pulled along with the reponses to that, the last which i wasnt able to read.

This is a very immature and sophmoric policy by moderators to discriminate agianst people because they have a different political viewpoint, mainly the one that you shouldnt kill people for their political views.

i also feel that most people who post politics or anything would agree with me, that political discrimination has no place on any message board.

stalin used to cenosor the press in a way that he would "disapear" things that had already been posted, sure his method was by taping over things, for there were no fancy computers, but its a very similar practice in terms of censorship and when talking about that its a fair comparison.

i know leftist viewpoints get deleted more and thats the point i am making.

I think that the mods pull threads based upon whether or not that particular thread is going to start a flame war, not based on their views.

Posts are removed based on content. Not viewpoint. As a poster above noted the left oriented posters have tended to personal attacks when making their points, thus they have been seeing the brunt of editing.

If one argues the points and not the people, things get to stay. Sadly its a skill we see little of.

At one time we would edit just the trouble posts, but as soon as we would the problem would be reposted, so I directed my staff to pull the problem threads in total. Life is too short to dump endless mod time into material that is not tickling related here.

You may be surprised at the politics of many of the mods. There are several leftists in the ranks. In fact one of the ones who has been active in pulling and editing your own threads is one such. Edits are not about politics, it's about controling behavior counter to our rules.

As to being Stalinist... Go a bit earlier. I chose the name Tzar for a reason. 🙂 I've never said this is a free speach zone. I try to make it as free AS POSSIBLE given the operating needs I've been tasked with. Stay within the forum rules and life can be pretty good and open.

Seriously though, I think that censorship is to a degree necessary. The TMF is not the Congress of the United States. It's a private house, which people enter by invitation. The place is basically Jeff's house, and Myr is the major domo. No-one can stop anyone having an opinion, but when things get disruptive, it's not a breach of human rights to have something slung out.
I tend to think that flaming is a little TOO anticipated sometimes and that threads should not be completely deleted but just locked; but I'd rather have what we've got than a setup like AMT.
As someone who Americans (well, Republicans anyway) probably consider "left-ist", although I consider myself centre-mildly conservative I've seen my fair share of posts pulled. I'll also admit that I'm never shy about not pulling my punches in a slaning match. But an awful lot of my posts have stood in the Forum and that shows that everything that's not raving right, doesn't get deleted arbitarilly. I try to keep within the golden rules, but sometimes the debate can get just too passionate for me. (See "Death Penalty" thread.)

Ah yes, I know it can be spelt with a T. But if a T is the first letter, then S is the second. Z is only the second if C is the first. Confused? Me too. 😛 The two variants are T-S-A-R and C-Z-A-R. So what you did is mix them both together.

Actually that was the first link that popped into my head, Jim. I have no idea if Myriads plays RPG's. I do, though. But "Tzar" is, to the best of my knowledge, a perfectly legitimate way to spell the title - at least if you translate it directly. But I'm no linguist.

no, views are pulled because of political opinion, and nothing else, and i gave you the most recent example. views where people just goosestep behind the government, or even go further than that and use racism to attack the governments enemy have no problem posting at all.

if you dont want non tickling stuff posted, than dont have a general discussion board. but if you want a general discussion board than try and treat people equaly and let all points of view heard.

Spies, you don't have any solid facts on which to base your premise. You use lopsided phenomenology to draw your conclusions. Most pulls that happen will be missed by you, because they happen too fast. The only pulls you will always notice are, of course, those of threads you posted in yourself. No wonder you get the feeling that your views are persecuted.

I, as one who has loads of facts about the background workings of this place, tell you: WRONG - ERRRRRR. We mods are neither pulling threads based on political opinion, nor are we robotic clones tooling for TEH MAN!!!11!.

Yes, we decided to have the community trade non-tickling issues and thoughts. That doesn't mean we don't yank the threads that degrade to mud slinging.

Now give it a rest already. More accusations of being a NeoCon will incite ire in me.

Speaking from personal experience, I've edited or removed posts for review on both sides of the arguement. I'm not on the right OR the left, preferring to judge every action on it's own merits, regardless of past stands. The only thing that makes me look twice at a thread's possible editorial potential is the phrasing of the content and whether or not it abides by the rules set forth.

The rules of this forum have been stated and are upheld by the moderators. If you do not like these rules, you are free to leave. No one is holding you hostage.

I have said it before. Although we are members here, it is still not our forum. We are all guests of the owner. Do as you would in someone's home and abide by thier rules or leave.

August, while I agree with much of your politics

I'm forced to agree with the majority. You tend to personalize and confront the person at the same time you present your ideas. The Golden Rule is clearly stated and enforced. And I appreciate the mods enforcing it. I don't agree with you that it is being enforced partially btw. I have seen Tron, Areen and others with a right wing perspective edited when they crossed the line. Actually, you would have to say that Myriads and company have done an exceptional job of keeping this place flame-free. And I for one am grateful.

Nah, a dictatorship implies a rule of one. There's actually several of us. So it's a democratic cabal, I guess. And if you think you've got it bad, you should see what he does to us! At least you don't have to clean the toilets around here every second Tuesday. At least you don't have to wash his car and schedule his dental appointments. And even though I'm starting to enjoy the taste of boiled gruel, a little variety would be nice. It's horrible, I tell ya, HORRIBLE!!
