Summer Is Almost Here!

No time for fantasy ball. I play APBA for WIndows and am in the process of replaying the 1989 season as the Cubs manager to get them in the Series. Afterall, all true Cubs fans know why the eathquake hit during the World Series. It was at Candlestick Park and was God's punishment for the Giants preventing the Cubs making the Series that year...😉

Between that, coaching, writing my current tickle fiction series, and something called 'life', no time for fantasy ball. Maybe next year?

Just bought myself a new bike :-D finally gonna go cruise around wales camping when the weather really gets hot. Some beautiful spots down in the valleys!! can't wait, just me, bike and the open road..

Well, summer IS about here, which means it's about time to once again continue my search for the perfect beach. *prepares*

I have a horrible team so far. My second round pick went to Huston Street whos not yet showing his rookie brilliance at least in terms of ERA. Relievers are prized highly in my league so I try to hoard them. Mariano Rivera went in the first round!!!
I was very fortunate to get Mariano Rivera in one of my leagues, and Brad Lidge in the other, both using auto-draft with default draft order. I also got a few crappy relievers but quickly replaced them with the likes of Brian Fuentes and Tom Gordon.

Ky, I have several of the old APBA-type board games. I used to try to play full seasons, but it quickly got tedious when using dice, cards, and hand scoring. I should try one of the PC-based versions some time 🙂

Strangely, I live in a place famed for its beaches, yet the beach holds no interest for me. I wish I could trade residences with someone who lives in a nice, cool climate on dry land 😉

Alaska is my favorite summer spot, with beautiful mountain scenery. I'm not a beach person, so the mud flats shoreline of Anchorage doesn't bother me. A few brave/crazy locals run and slide on them despite some danger. In early summer you can see tourists like me in jackets, locals in short sleeves, and people from farther north (Fairbanks) wearing shorts and sandals. It never really gets dark, just a couple hours of dusky light. It can rain for a week solid, but so light a mist, it hardly qualifies as rain. There is no real chain lightning in Anchorage. My nieces, some born there, visited me in Ohio. They were so amazed at our heavy rain that they danced in it, until the also amazing lightning got too close.

The winter in Alaska is exotic to me too, a few hours of light per day. It doesn't seem like more snow fall than Ohio, but it never melts till spring, so there can be six feet on the ground. Anchorage is often no colder than the coldest temperatures in Ohio. In Fairbanks though, you can throw a cup of water into the air and it will freeze before it hits the ground.

Val, you must go to the beach and do the "beach ritual" we discussed. You cannot escape your destiny!

Let me know if interested. Maybe I can help you out on that....

I also love cool climates, but unfortunately I'm living in Texas right now, so I don't really get either.

Summer rocks because it's warm, so does spring because it SEEMS warm compared to winter, which is fun because of snow and christmas. Fall just sucks though, cold and no snow. I plan to laze around and go bowling for next to nothing most days thanks to a special they have durring summer, woooooooo!

THERE'S A WEEK AND A HALF BEFORE SCHOOL'S OUT! I'M GOING FRIGGIN NUTS HERE!!!!
