OK all, here's how this works:

I'll start by naming something that happened in 1980. Then the next poster states something that happened in 1981, the next will post a fact from 1982, etc. When we get to 1989, we'll start over again at 1980.

Here goes:

1980: Ronald Reagan is elected president
