The Answer Man Bugman (Bugman Replies....)

bugman did you ever get a call for a black widow or a scorpion or something real poisonous

Black widow spiders are very rare in the Kansas City area.Never saw a scorpion. That's where i lived when i was in pest control.

We did have a lot of brown recluse spiders, but they are not really as dangerous as people think they are.

oh I saw texas thus the poisonous bug question

Understandable. It's been almost two years since i quit Terminix and moved back to Texas. And really,no insects in the US are that dangerous unless you have an allergic reaction of some kind.It might hurt like hell if you get stung or bit by something, but that's about it for most people.🙂

I had a bad reaction to yellow jackets my dog upset a nest and I got about 15 to 20 bites and stings on my arm, I got cotton mouth and faint was dizzy for a while. I took my dog to the vet to be treated and when I got home was so bad myself I used the dogs spray on my arm lol it was like some miracle cure all the pain just went away. needless to say after that I killed the whole nest of them lol

o all knowing (about bugs) Mister bugman

whats the biggest bug youve ever seen and/or killed

i dunno ive seen them do some damage to Marines

than again we tend not to mention issues until they reach softball size lumps.....

They can do some real damage. But for most people who get bitten it's just not that big of a deal.I read some studies on this when i was in the business. There are a lot of myths floating around about stuff like this, and not just about the brown recluse.

whats the one critter to really look out for (bug wise) in Texas?

Well,it depends on where you live i guess.Fire ants are pretty nasty but are more common in the southern part of Texas. We have five or six species of black widow spiders all over the state. They can inflict a nasty bite but almost never a fatal one.Much like the brown recluse.🙂

Scorpions are all over the place but they are an arachnid, not a "bug" or "insect".

Hey Bugman you seem to be a popular guy these days what do you attribute that to ?
