I'll throw my voice in with the chorus and say Yes, men and women can have a platonic friendship. Having worked in a restaurant for much of the last decade, I am most definitely "one of the boys", and I'm almost positive I stopped being looked at sexually by many of them long ago.

The gender difference does present a unique set of challenges to overcome, friendship wise, but its possible.
