Mercy Mew's latest ramble through the Low Roads (25 pages) brings her close to torment worse than tickling! No celebrity cameos in this episode (the restricted nature of the story didn't allow for it)... more due next time.

(hums merrily along) Yeah, that song is most likely where this whole "Low Roads" concept sprang from (and if the upcoming chapter title doesn't tip that fact, nothing could! Too bad I haven't included more Scottish imagery to compliment the inspiration... kilts, loches, etc.... something I'll have to work on). There is, as a matter of fact, a looming schism... we'll soon have two separate story-lines to follow!

Looming signs of separation indeed! And here I'd gotten used to the terrible twosome, aye. I still say Von Smutt looks to be afflicted with more than a little undeath. I must say I am saddened with myself; I begin to forget faces in this lengthening tale. Might be time to go back and peruse the earlier installations. Hopefully this will happen before the next chapter dawns and I get more behind. Jolly good show, wot? :happy:

Grateful thanks, as always, to the inspiring HDS! Don't be concerned about your memory; a metric ton of characters has been dumped on us since Chapter One... I sometimes myself forget who's entered the proceedings and who's yet to be introduced! This confusion should lessen somewhat as established personalities come back into the plot for increased story-responsibility. Von Smutt does indeed look a little corpsy... I wanted his appearance a bit off-putting, so as to bolster his reputation as a Low Roads phantasm (sort of like the pulp anti-heros Shadow or Spider). And, while it was a difficult choice to break up Mercy/Angie's simpatico, the dynamic became necessary so as to further their character growth. The urge to rejoin will fuel much of their future action!

Nice plot building, LBH. May not have been as much tickle action, but I like where the story lines are leading. Looks like the tickling blob is about to become a wandering, monstrous menace to all of the citezenry! I look forward to his 'random' appearances creating havoc on plans both fair and foul.

Thanks so much, Hawk! It's true, the tickling does play second fiddle to swordplay in this chapter. And half of what does take place is minimized by Mercy's mild reaction (a suggestion that Mercy's toughening up a bit). Drawing the fight scene was fun, though! And you're dead on target about Sid! I intend him as a general menace to Tabor County, affiliated with no side in any of the ongoing conflicts! He won't be the only (or the worst) of his sort, though!

Looking forward to the results from your typewriter... further adventures in Tyclonia or anything else you may be working on right now!

How wonderfully generous of you to say so, Scribesan! I so agree with you about splitting up Angie and Mercy! Their individual adventures will compell them not only to face new folks and situations, but mature in order to deal with them (that, and offer some counterpoint for the storytelling). I deeply appreciate your compliments concerning the story's characters and their dialogue! Of all the comic's elements, I consider the script to be the most crucial and expend the greatest amount of anxiety and sweat to try to make it effective. What a joy to hear that these elements work so well for you!

I'm not familiar with the latter two tunes... though a web-search should easily correct that deficit! Of course, I know "Scotland the Brave"... everyone knows that one (even if they think they don't!)

Come to think of it, Sid sort of resembles a set of bagpipes... not perfect Highland recognition, but it's a start!

The poses and lines of your characters are splendidly drawn and filled with deep, consistant colours while every inch of page is used to tell this marvellous tale.

As usual, your language thrills me...especially the "giggle filled massage" line and when our heroine dares the nefarious bounders to to tickle the bottoms of her feet...wonderful, just wonderful!! I do so adore the language in your works. 😀 😀

And last, but not least, the story itself! Well paced and drawing the reader along in each panel. I really like the fate the would-be ticklers - wonderfully fitting!! This was a pleasure to read!

Thank you so much for all your kind words, and especially for siting the specific examples of plot and dialogue! I'm entirely delighted you've singled out Mercy's bravado and the turnaround comeuppance of the bandit crew... I wanted these incidents to have special resonance (the first to demonstrate Mercy's growing toughness; the second for it's sense of poetic justice), and you've not only spotlighted them but done so in a most vivid, memorable manner! It makes me feel very, very good when readers find pleasure in my writing, especially when it's someone such as yourself with a proud record of enjoyable comix work to his credit!
