whoa, there's different kinds?

i've always liked Pokemon for gameboy and Xenosaga. i guess either turn based and/or action rpg.

Hmm...well, if you mean strictly PC, then you could try the after mentioned The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, or if you're computer isn't super good, it's predecessor Morrowind. They have fairly simplistic combat and such on one hand, but also very in depth gameplay with ALOT of stuff to do. They are action RPGs.

Also, I'd recommend the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games, both of which are very good, albeit a bit glitchy, IMO.

cool, i'll check 'em out.

Cool. A few things though. First off, you could get all of them except Oblivion for $20 or cheaper, Oblivion's new, so it'll be a bit more on the wallet.

Also, in deciding between KotOR 1 and 2, I have a hard time since they're both great games, but I will say that the first has a more clear story, while the second relies alot on speculation (and of course, the "being in the middle", which usually leaves it with lots of plot holes to be filled later). I'd recommend both actually.

And third, if you're computer isn't great (though considering that you play HL2, it must be), Oblivion will be harder to run. However, Morrowind also has the expansions included with it in the GOTY version, and WAY more mods, so you might want to play and enjoy it for a while till Oblivion catches up. Just a few thoughts.

Both Elderscrolls 3 and 4 are worth picking up. Out of the KOTOR I would have to say 1 was the best. It was more fun to play if you ask me. For some reason it just didn't feel the same playing through 2. Ooh yeah, I got Dead Rising today and if you have a 360 you must pick it up. xD Speaking of Bioware, have either of you seen anything on Mass Effect?

1st, what's KOTOR?

2nd, what's Mass Effect?

3rd, thanks for the tips, i'll check em out when i can, kinda on a Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries binge right now.

i friggin love nabbing a Longbow and loaded it chock full of 6 LRM20's, and 2 X-Pulse lasers and just beating the sh*t outta other mechs with a massive missile barrage. after playing it through 4 times already, i'd have to say i'm hooked.

KOTOR is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It won RPG of the year when it came out. If you're a Star Wars/RPG fan then check it out. It's such a great game, and there is freedom to it. Mass Effect is the new RPG coming out that is done by the same people who did KOTOR, the company known as Bioware.

Yeah, I might agree on 1 being better, but the one thing I liked about 2 was that your party was less...good. It's annoying playing a Darkside character and most of your party is Lightside, trying to make you feel like you should be good (or that's how I remember it anyway, it's been a while since I've played it).

And I'm not sure, but if I have seen something on Mass Effect then I don't remember it.

oh, i see. i'll be sure to check out both of them. KOTOR sounds like my kinda deal, i like freedom in games, that's why i love Dues Ex and Dues Ex: Invisible War so much.

Lol; then you'll love it. Its the game where yo0u can either be the nice, proper, heartful Jedi knight, who has nothing on his mind but peace and justice in the universe....or, you can walk your TRUE path, and join the Dark Side, become ruthles, evil, and a bit ugly. 😛

Like Excess said, the first one has a MUCH greater story to it. The down side is that your abilities are more...limited than in the 2nd one. (So its also harder). Not to mention that the final battle (no spoilers😉) IS a lot harder if you didnt get the right force powers.

The 2nd one has much greater options on you character, though the story is a bit confusing if you havent played the 1st one. (Trust me, I played the 2nd one first. 😛) However, its not that hard to piece it together.

In the 1st one, you can only get to level 20. In the 2nd one, level 50, though thats almost impossible. (If you due EVERYTHING, you'll still end up on like level 25-30 by the end. The only way to get beyond that is if you use the "cheats", which are basically glitches in the game that make enemies respawn over and over, which gives u XP.)

The 2nd one however has a horrible ending. I mean, the story's OK, (not as great as the first one, but still pretty good), but the 1st one had this like 5 minute long movie in the end where it gives a detailed idea on your characters future, while the 2nd one just has this like 30 second clip where all you see is ur ship leaving/staying on the last world. :/)

Anyway, I talked enough....sorry, really got into it. 😛 I love KOTOR. (It means dig in Hungarian XD). Its your choice, though both are like $20 now, you might as well get'em both.

And root 4 KOTOR 3 People! 😀

KOTOR 3 simply must come to be. IT MUST!!! The biggest problem with it is finding someone to make it. There's a good reason why BioWare didn't make the 2nd one, and that same reason may also be why Obsidion might not wanna make the 3rd one; LucasArts and their poor management skills! Considering how Obsidion was forced to crank out KOTOR II in less than a year, I'm surprised it came out as well as it did, and I'll be even more surprised if Obsidion does another one after that.

been playing F.E.A.R. the last few days, i finally found the disc 1 i lost for 3 months, so i've been kicking so much ass in multiplayer, and almost done with the singleplayer again. that game is so awesome, it's on my top 5 games for sure.

I'll probably look into getting F.E.A.R. when I get my video card upgraded to a 512 or so, since I have a friend who says it's great as well.

F.E.A.R. looks like a pretty sweet game. Plus it has that creepy thing going with the little girl. I want to get it, but I try not to put too many games on my PC at once. I'll probably get it for 360 whenever it comes out for it. Might not though, since I heard it's one of the best fps's out.

Meh...F.E.A.R. doesn't look that intimidating. I mean come on, a ghost girl? I really don't think of cliches all to well. Now if you want a gut retching you would probably want to try Condemned. Sure, it's not as action-oriented as F.E.A.R. but it has a very gripping, tense nature. It's much more interesting then a girl haunting a building or a vampire.

I'll admit Condemned was an awesome game, but the ending was a wee bit on the aggervating side. But, if you haven't checked out Condemned that's another you should Norm. It's mostly a melee horror FPS, but it's really good and has a pretty decent storyline.

i tell ya, it is one of the best fps' out there. it's got a good amount of scary, but not too much, like doom 3, doom 3's great, but i gotta play it at noon time, with all lights on and a friend by my side 😀

anyway, fear has a great assortment of weapons, and all kinds of krazy good stuff. i highly recommend you get it asap. you'll thank me later. btw, it also has one of the best online deathmatch and multiplayer available IMO.

fear really doesn't demand that much, my card is old aswell, and it runs fine.

the girl haunting thing is interesting once you get to know the story. i'm not gonna give away tohe story here, but there is much more to it that a ghostly girl, and trust me, it sure is gripping.

I just bought the game for like $25 in Hungary, but I only got 1 disc with it. Is it REALLY just 1 disk? :wooha: *I cant play it until I get home next week...* :/

That new FF just came out today. Dirge of Cerberus. I dunno about buying it, but I will check it out to atleast see if it's any good. FF VII is just being too hyped up again if you ask me but.. Ooh yeah, that Ninety Nine Nights just came out as well, I'll have to check that one out as well.

Believe me, I agree. I'm just wondering how far into the Alphabet this whole FFVII compilation will go.

you know a game's good when it hs more sequels than the entire Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday the 13th series of movies.

so what's it up to now, 13? FFXIII?

Are you talking about FF, or FFVII? And yeah, the series is up to 12, with 3 versions of 13 scheduled. And some other games as well.

Square is just whoring out the FFVII name. xD I mean they have the movie, VII, the remake of VII for PS3. Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, and Crisis Core. I admit I am looking forward to BC and CC but CC is only for PSP and it's about Zack. BC is already out in Japan and that's about the Turks... But why can't Square just stick to something simple? xD I mean I bet their FF's bomb on the PS3 cause nobody is gonna own it right away.
