I know some of you are going to be drudging up some of your most deepest and most private feelings out there, and I am truly sorry for doing that to anyone, but I am very curious as to some of the saddest movies you have ever seen.

Just to even the playing field, I am going to pour my heart out here too. One of the saddest movies I have ever seen and will always testify to being one of the saddest movies I have ever seen is "Snoopy, come home". Before you start laughing, I would advise you to ask other people who have seen this movie.

This innocent animated kid's film tore my heart out when I watched it as a child... and the movie still does the same thing to me today. Some of the musical numbers are really, really sad and cross over the majorly depressing border. So... now it's your turn.

The first that came to mind was Marley & Me.

I think that one touched me the most because I've only lost two pets, one when I was 3 and another when I was 12. And now, with 4 cats, aged 19,13,13 and 4, I am close to losing another that I'm more close with than when I was 12.

I know it will be tough.

Two movies come to mind.

One is a movie called Love Story, from 1970, with Ryan O' Neal, and Ali Macgraw. Mega tear jerker.

Another is Marley and Me. I'll admit that I cried during that movie, and I'm one who is not a sappy person.

I'm sure there have been others, but those are two that come to mind.

Old Yeller, The Yearling, and Where The Red Fern Grows...all those movies forced upon me when I was growing up.

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Its a tragedy in Shakespearian format. Its Romeo & Juliet & Macbeth in one story.

the last samuri
Seconded. The Last Samurai is... amazing. It's depressing, but at the same time it's just so... not sure. Hard to describe.
Just watch it 😛

Also, to some extent, Gladiator... or at least the end of it.

It's a tie between Love Story and The Notebook. I cried during the end of the book when I was reading it.

1. Grave of the Fireflies.
2. Moulin Rouge.
3. Phenomenon. (A John Travolta film.)
4. The Cure.

And that's all I can think of at the moment. I know I've seen more.

I've been appreciating the brilliance and sadness of Schindler's List as of late... Watched it 3 times this week... I'm not sure if its the saddest film I've ever seen, but its definitely up there...

The saddest movie I ever watched was "We Are Marshall". It is one of the few movies I can't make it through without crying. That scene at the end where coach Dawson is alone in the locker room and just starts to burst into tears always gets to me.

The most recent one has been Marley and Me. I ended up watching it with one of my roommates and by the end of it we were both teared up a little.

The saddest movie I have ever seen would have to be "A Walk to Remember" and "War of the Roses". Even though these were sad, but they are well worth watching for anyone.

Dancer In The Dark was pretty darn bleak.

Hannibal was a good one, too. Not so much sad, as just so much unfairness and ugliness, done so well.

I second a walk to remember

Marley and Me. I'll admit I cried in the end when he began to lose his ability to walk and do other things. It just reminds me that there will be a time coming where the same thing is going to happen to me, and I am dreadding that day with all my heart. I know I won't take it well when the time comes

There are many, in my opinion. 'Man On Fire' being one that comes to mind.

"Million Dollar Baby" was the saddest movie I've ever seen. I cried when Hillary Swank asked for euthanasia. 🙁 🙁

The Champ with Jon Voight and Ricky Shroder, and of course what could be sadder then Old Yeller. Last but not least "Shake Hands With The Devil".
