Well, it becomes official tomorrow. My 8 year old son has earned the right to test in the promotion board for his first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He started when he was 4, and has stuck with it for the past 4 years. He has gone to class at least 3X a week, each week, in the 4 year period, and now, tomorrow, he realizes the fruits of his labor. Needless to say, dad is very proud of him.

Congratulations!

Please move this into the General discussion. I didn't intend to mix this up with peoples birthdays

Thank you

congrats to your son...you must be very proud of him..🙂

Well, congratulations to him! :dogpile:

Heh. Let's just hope he dosen't let his newfound skill go straight to his head like Bruce did. :jester:

That's pretty kick-ass man (in a literal sense!). Awesome!

what an accomplishment!
i've never been able to get that far in any of the styles i've taken. you should be proud of 'im...he's ready to take on the world now.

Congrats to your son. I have been practicing Tae Kwon Do for 14 years, and teaching for the past 10. It is always a pleasure to see young students achieve such a rank. Well done to him!!! 🙂

Congrats man!!! Being a martial artist myself, I know the work and dedication it takes to attain Black belt.

Yes, I am the proud Mama and myself practicing Martial Arts, it has become a bit of a family affair. My daughter now 4 is on her way. I believe it is great for girls as well as boys, real confidence builder. For me my kids get a kick out of mommy going and I get in my exercise....

I will have about 2 more years till black belt!

watch out, better hold me down when tickled!

Congrats

Hi JPie,
Congrats to your son on his quest I agree martial arts takes commitment, discipline and hard work.

However a true martial artist who has achieved a black belt status still must always to remember to walk away if he's ever provoked by anybody.

There are crazy people out who'd take advantage of it.
