Travis AFB is still around,as well as Fort Irwin(army) and Twenty Nine Palms(USMC)
😀 😛
But it is outrageous that both Senators from California strive to close down as many military bases as they can. 🙁
😀 😛
Still there my friend 😀 😛

What got me is how mad they got when a bunch of the California bases got on the closure list 😀 😛
Yea that was just for show I think to pretend they were against for a bit and then go whole heartedly behind it.![]()
I remember when George AFB near Victorville,CA closed Then Norton AFB by San Bernardino,CA closed(I was based there)then March AFB nearby got turned into a Reserve base 😀 😛
Yes, they needed to appease the Californians who would lose their jobs if and when the bases closed.

If I am not mistaken, the civilian workers on the bases to be closed were given the option to move to another base at the govt. expense 😀 😛
There was once a huge naval base here; two of my uncles worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. It is only a memory now.
😀 😛
True, but many didn't want to relocate or couldn't due to family circumstances. 🙁
😀 😛
Exactly
When you live in a certain place most of your life.it's hard to move 🙁

Thank you, my friend. They both worked there a very long time ago and needed to find a new job when the naval yard closed. They wound up using their savings to buy a small restaurant. 😀 😛
It served American food, specializing in hamburgers. It was located in Westchester County, north of the Bronx. 😀 😛
