I did one stint as a summer school TA and I agree it was a lot of work. Slightly more pay though. 😀

Well, summer school classes meet 12 hours per week instead of 3 hours per week, to get a whole semester's material into a 4-week summer session. Not much fun for either the students or the instructor.

The extra pay for summer session is not too good here, also, which is why I haven't done it again in a long time.
