What I always found to be remarkable is that my father had no bitterness or animosity towards the Japanese, and even, many years later, bought a Toyota.

He sounds like he was a good man. I guess he figured it was not the fault of all the Japanese for what happened during that time. 😀 😛

He was a good man.
When I asked about why he didn't hate the people who were shooting at him, he explained that he hated Tojo (the Prime Minister of Japan) and the Emperor, but that the common soldiers facing him had no choice. His terminal rank in the U.S. Army was staff sergeant.

I feel that the leaders should lead the troops from the front lines. Probably be less wars that way. 😀 😛

But Emperor Hirohito was in his beautiful palace in Tokyo and PM Hidecki Tojo was nowhere near the fighting either.

Me, too. My father expected to die in the invasion of their home islands. Nobody was happier at the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki than those Army infantry and Marines in the Philippines who were training for that invasion.

I need to get rid of some files and defrag and retune it up a bit and see if it works better before I get back online. Right now its taking forever to post and last night it crashed rather badly.
