If the government can't balance their budget with the money they already have, why on earth would you expect them to be responsible for your paycheck?

The biggest problem here that no one in Goverment seems to get is why would anyone stay in a place with taxes so high. So as more and more people leave there is less and less money the government actually gets. So they try to raise taxes even higher to make the money they need which forces even more people to leave. Its really an excercize in idiocy.

Not quite as short as traditional bankers' hours, 9 to 3, but very civilized compared to the average worker in the private sector. They get better health benefits and better pension plans, too. All paid for by our taxes.
