TICKLE MACHINE: What'd work best?...

A ticklish form of GPS?! Now there's an innovative idea! Though not sure if I'd readily accept directions from someone who's tweaking out right there on the path.

If one were to ask for directions to a Starbucks, your entire foot would be vibrating. 😵

Yes, it would definitely need a Starbucks filter, or emergency unlace ripcord. 🙂

If you google "Texas artificial muscle polymer", you will see polymer threads that imitate muscles. I can't find the link now, but a researcher suggested clothing that would move and conform to your body. That gave me an idea for a tickling machine. I wrote a story about it:

Got plenty of ideas for how a tickle machine could work. Built some rudimentary gadgets that didn't work too well :-(
I wanna get a serious discussion going (if there already is one, I'm sure someone'll let me know) share ideas, plans etc with the goal in mind of actually building a tickle machine that really works.

Got lotsa questions too, for ex-
Which'd be cheaper or more practical; Lego Mindstorms or buying tons of individual gears and motors from Radio Shack?

Does there need to be a microprocesser, or can varied unpredictable movements be achieved thru mechanical means? (gears etc)

Can a mechanical hand really tickle, or just annoy?

Here's my idea: http://fav.me/d796h2n :blush

However on the scientific side, there has been a study showing that when a person thought they were being tickled by a robot, were then blindfolded and tickled by a real person with a "robot glove" to make them think it was a robot, the person still laughed. Scientists took this to mean tickling while developed for social reasons, and for children learning to defend themselves via playful interaction, actually has a neurological aspect to it imputed purely by the nerves along the epidermis alone and not requiring social interaction to manifest symptoms ( laughter ). Hope that helps to answer your question?

I read an earlier post saying theres a 'Tickle Machine' thread started alrdy, but I didnt see anything of the sort when I just looked. Is the the official thread for it then? Dont wanna put something in the wrong place. Anyway...

It bums me out this tread is half a decade old, I feel like all the collected data would be dissolved by now for some reason. Regardless, I did my own research it to this because I'm working on a story and I wanted it to be realistic.

Why couldnt we use those 'shiatsu thumb-finger' disk deals that are placed in massage chairs? The way I see it, you can get belts that vibrate to strength stomach muscles right? Use the sleek design of the belt, put more 'tickly' feeling material on the inside, stuff some of those massage disk in the belt in with its massage pattern. Now, just the spinning deal alone might not work so we'd have to figure how change the direction and pattern or make different size disks to use. Hell, it might not work at all! Just my 2 cents to put in.

Looks like I missed a few replies to this post... I don't think i mentioned this yet, but i did manage to build and program a simple tickling robot.

here is a link to a Demo video of the project:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prIZ57wIKjg

As I said, it is a simple proof of concept. It took me about a week to learn, build and code the silly thing. And I tested it on myself of course, it works!

Unfortunately I had to move after shooting that video, so i didn't have time to work on adding more modules to it (that s the upperbody/sides module). I ended up Scrapping the whole thing until a future date where i have the room, time, money and energy to finish this.

My point here is that it is easy to do it as the technology is available for building robots. If someone has the will to learn how to code some simple ARDUINO code, and some creativity, then they will be able to build a full body tickling machine.

FYI, The servos (holding the feathers) move and stop at a random rate for random durations, which is not visible in the video.

Im happy to answer any questions if you have any...

Oh, wow! Awesome progress! 😱 It looks like such a simple device, but flexible for different bed sizes or bondage positions and such - I can see those being rather effective with feet and toes tightly restrained in stocks or something, where all attentions would then be focused on those feathers! It's great that you've managed to have the stroking randomized as well, as that's probably the most important thing. Can't wait to see more advancements with this system you've got going, and then hopefully see it in full action! =D

Trust me, I cant wait for that either! maybe by the end of the year Ill start working on it again as for now life is busy.

I hope someone else is willing to venture into this area as well, maybe well get a full working model sooner than later.

I cant stress enough that the technology is available! So if someone is willing to try it, just play around with the things out there.
