the verbal teasing thread made me think; which word is more of a turn-on: TICKLE or TICKLISH? example: would you rather hear "Don't tickle me" or "Don't, i'm ticklish". for me, i think the word TICKLISH is more of a turn-on. something about the "ish" sound just does it for me. in reality, both words are exiting to hear. what do you folks think?

Tickle vs. ticklish

I agree.
Ticklish is a much more exciting word to hear.
Of course, my favorite sentence to hear from a girl would be "I'm so ticklish that if you tickle torture me I'll go crazy from all the tickling!!" or to have her say to me "You're extremely ticklish so I'm going to keep tickling you until the tickle torture drives you crazy... and then I'll keep tickling twice as long!"

I'll vote for ticklish. As in, after I've been securely tied to the bondage table, Mistress Zara says,

"All tied down, and unable to move. You're so helpless, with all of your sensitive spots exposed. If I had to describe your situation, in one word, I'd have to say 'ticklish'!"😀 😀

Well, I'll break the mold and say "tickle."

The tickle image that made the biggest impression on me when I was a kid was the Raggedy Ann movie. (For those who haven't seen it, a lunatic king orders a many-armed sea monster to grab and tickle the entire cast.) The moment that stuck in my mind when I was 5 and came back to me strongly when I was 11 or 12 was when the King gives the order, "Ready... aim... TICKLE!"

So for me, "tickle" has always been the more exciting word.

'Course, the question was which word is sexier, and there I can't answer, since for me tickling isn't about sex. But exciting, yes.

Ticklish 😉

Ticklish for sure! Why else would be tickle??? LOL
No chicken and egg problem here, hehe, I wouldnt tickle anyone if ticklish didn't exist!

Definitely ticklish. It connotates a sexy vulnerablity. Plus I agree, something's appealing about the "ish" sound

It depends on how the words are used, but "ticklish" sounds sexier to me also. I like hearing it even when there's no tickling involved--a "ticklish" situation, for example. 😀

For some reason, "ticklish" automatically seems to denote vulnerability. You can "tickle" someone and get a mild reaction, but someone who is "ticklish" generally reacts strongly. At least those are the connotations in my own mind. Anyways, my vote is for ticklish, I cannot even say that word in public or I get all embarrassed 😱

In the risk of being conformist, I would also say 'ticklish.'
It's more evocative, revealing, and has that nice sibilant 'sh' sound that can be annoying in some words, and said by some people, and great in others.

For me it depends on who is saying it and the circumstances surrounding the words. For someone to confess ticklishness is sexy for me, as others have stated, because they are showing vulnerability which in turn makes me feel more powerful.(in a playful way, of course) The word tickle is sexy for me when a tickler is stating it to a ticklee. Just like others have mentioned earlier.

The word "Ticklish" just melts me, erotic beyond any other word and when uttered by any attractive lady i can still feel myself blushing beet red like a schoolboy; i really gotta get over that.

It depends

If the word is part of an interrogative, then "ticklish" gets my vote. If it's in a declarative, then I would go for "tickle."

but Drew, “oh my... you are so ticklish!” and “do you have any idea how much I am going to tickle you?” wouldn‘t get your vote? 😉

either word thrown into casual conversation makes my heart skip a beat.

I have to say the word ticklish. If I hear it, my face automatically blushes and I start to stutter. Althought I cannot say either word, in any form, if I hear the word ticklish, it has much more impact, for some reason.

For me, I'd also have to say that 'ticklish' is better, esp. when uttered in person by a female I consider attractive, preceded by "I'm very ", and not followed by any variation of ", but sorry guys, ladies only," "but only by my boyfriend/husband/sig. other," and "anywhere but my feet." LOL. But that's just me.

Smiley 😀

Yeah

I cannot say either words aloud as well. I think there's a lot of us like that! Though if I know I'm in the company of someone from the group, then it's cool.

TICKLISH, TICKLISH, TICKLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel all quivery inside when I hear or see the word. been that way since grade school.

Ticklish, hands (and toes) down

Like the majority of us, even hearing/speaking/reading the word ticklish makes me all shivery and gives me "the warm fuzzies" :bunny:. Has been so ever since I was a kid.
Being a ler as well as lee, when i head someons say they're TICKLISH, my mind starts reeling with all kinds of evil possibilities!

A bit off topic/off thread, but wonder how many of us used to look up tickle and ticklish in the dictionaries! I know I did, constatnly! LOL

"ticklish" by the width of a feather

Maggie, I, too, used to look up those words in the dictionary. And I always wished the definitions had one of the little illustrations to the side, like, maybe Christine McTierney from down the street bound and having her bare feet tickled with a feather, as she laughed like a maniac.

me too. I used to look that word up constantly. Now, I just look for and reread tickling scenes in novels. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
