I am taking private Spanish lessons online and since my teacher has recently lost a lot of weight, plus is always using crazy real news stories for lesson plans, I sent him this link. Then he posted it on his Facebook page giving me credit and saying he is actually going to turn it into a Notiloca for his students.

Anyway, I still can't discuss this in English with anyone, but I think I could do it in Spanish. Anyway, one thing I would say is this treatment is sort of a Catch-22 because in order for it to work, the person would really have to be ticklish, but a really ticklish person would not be able to hold still and let someone tickle their feet without a struggle. I really don't know how the people in the video could do that, though.

So what do you think? Is it reasonable to expect an unrestrained ticklish person to be able to lay still and let the doctor tickle his or her feet for 5 minutes at a time?

Maybe not stock still. But if the tickling isn't too intensive, many can keep it together well enough to stay put.

It looks like the ler here is being relatively gentle and not really "going at it", and the people were still struggling to stay still. That being said though, there are some people who are really ticklish and can somehow tolerate it and not thrash around all that much. I've met a person like this and I'm not sure how they do it.

I think it's unreasonable to believe a real doctor would do that kind of therapy.

Oh, that guy isn't a Dr. He is a Physical Therapist. Apparently, he's made the rounds on all the Latin news programs and he has just written a book about the therapy.

that depends on how ticklish there feet are some could take it but i have met a few women that noway they could stay still there feet were way to ticklish

My Spanish is far from perfect, but I think he said 3 intervals at 5 minutes each time and twice a week. I'll have to listen several more times to be sure, though.

Seriously? Then he is a disgrace to the profession. I studied physical therapy for three years (though I'm a medical lab technician now), and the thought of any self-respecting health professional coming up with something so ridiculous is embarrassing to me. I mean, I enjoy tickling, but as a genuine weight-loss system? Give me a break.

I may very well be wrong, but I can't help but wonder if this "therapist's" reasons for offering this form of "treatment" are all that different from a guy who gets women to show off their feet or to get tickled on camera for "research" or for a "school paper".

Then again, if the guy is featured on the news and even wrote a book, then maybe he's more serious about his work than I think. But that doesn't make me take his form of therapy any more seriously. Putting aside the silly nature of the therapy, I don't think any form of exercise can lead to significant weight loss when done in such small amounts.

In any case, why would anyone see a health professional for something that just about anyone can do?

What if it's possible to use tickling as a possible weight loss system, i mean i sure seems like to be a good way to workout the abs.

Everybody who ever went to a fitness club to lose weight knows that three intervals of five minutes each twice a week won't do shit. This is a total scam! When was it aired, 1st of April??

I'm tending to agree with The Last Laugh on this:

I know a really good tickle fight or tied and tickling scenario with a real partner certainly gets the heart racing and feels like a tremendous workout, but aside from the endorphin rush, I wonder it it has any serious cardiac benefits. Maybe 45 minutes 3-4 times a week would help, but that's the kind of thing I would keep private and not want to be studied by any so called professional.

'"Paging Dr. Sonicare, Paging Dr. Sonicare....."

I wonder under which "insurance industry standard code" this falls? Next let's have COPD therapy or test lung capacity using an inflatable woman doll!! Then its over to BDSM Memorial for the stretching exercises!! 😉 How long does the patient have to go through this "process"? So now its 1) Eat less 2) Move more 3) Be tickled to infinity. Got it.

I think this technique should be explored further and implemented in The Biggest Loser :-D
