On Wikipedia there's an interesting article on tickle torture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tickle_torture.

It also features some real life reports about tickling torture in real life, and one of such where an angry husband tickles his spouse until she fainted. By recovering from her unconciousness she has become so traumatized she lost her sanity, literally, and had to spent her life in an institution.

First, Horrible Murder: An Anthology of Victorian Crime and Passion Compiled from the Illustrated Police News (by Leonard De Vries, published by Book Club Associates in London in 1974) (pp 73-4) reissued a news item first published in the Illustrated Police News on December 11, 1869: 'A Wife Driven Insane by Husband Tickling Her Feet.' The account states that Michael Puckridge had previously threatened the life of his wife, described as "an interesting looking young woman." Puckridge tricked his wife into allowing herself to be tied to a plank. Afterward, "Puckridge deliberately and persistently tickled the soles of her feet with a feather. For a long time he continued to operate upon his unhappy victim who was rendered frantic by the process. Eventually, she swooned, whereupon her husband released her. It soon became too manifest that the light of reason had fled. Mrs. Puckridge was taken to the workhouse where she was placed with the other insane inmates." (page 74) The husband was given away by Mrs. Puckridge's niece who was aware of the torture and spoke to neighbors about it. The article does not say if Puckridge confessed his crime to the niece after the deed was done, or if the niece actually watched the feather relentlessly scraping away at her aunt's soles, and ultimately, her sanity

My question is, is tickling really this dangerous?

I know, among us tickle enthusiasts and among people who trust each other tickling revenge only belongs to fiction. People view it as necessary for it to be consentual or semi-consentual at the least (you know the situation where your body forces you to want to leave, but where the actual person wants to receive more).

Also, I must add that angry tickling scares the hell outta me and isn't a turn on in the least bit for me. I like vicious torturous prolonged tickling. I like situation where she loses control for a LOONG time (it's many a 'lees dream to be able to be tickled for hours and it's many a 'lers dream to have a mentally strong 'lee, yet insanely ticklish).
However, this made me also think about that non-con vid by tickleparadise in the day; it made me furious along with many over here. There is a small group of people who likes victims who hate tickling no matter how violently and respectlesly she's treated or how scared she is, but most of us are for (semi-)consentual, luckily.

I wonder if this would be possible with a willing 'lee wanting to be tortured for hours for her to lose her sanity. Was it only the woman's fear for her husband and hatred for being tickled by a person she hated or for being tickled in general, that made her traumatized?

I want opinions on this.

I'd also want to congratulate Viviana on making it to Wikipedia, if only in a super hot picture serving as example for the phenomenon of 'tickling torture'. ^^

I agree, I find "angry tickling" most troubling. Tickling at its core is meant to be be frisky and at most bothersome, not vindictive and sadistic. I personally have never tickled anyone for a long enough time that it stops being fun.

But to directly address the issue, I would think that prolonged non-consensual tickling, there would definitely be some emotional damage. Kinda puts a damper on the whole joy of tickling, don't it?

Thee is a very simple way to cause someone to go insane due to tickling.
The person may be restrained. Then they may be hooked up to a machine, or tickled on and off by different people for a number of days. The person must not be given food, and only splashed with water. Finally they must not be allowed to sleep. The combination of these stressful situations will inevitably cause someone to go insane.

Also note that Wikipedia is NOT a reliable source...for anything...ever.

I agree on that Camel, and thanks to Journia to put in more details for this to become more credible. Anyway, if this story is true, I feel sorry for the woman. Good thing the man got jailed for it.

Wikipedia site

I saw this article some time ago. Two comments to offer; firstly 'agressive' tickling is just that - certainly not fun! I started a thread here some time back on this theme as it is soft slow teasing that I find attractive (as a 'ler') and many of the video posts seemed, in my opinion to be quite harsh. I received some interesting and mainly supportive replies. As for the historical story (reported on Wiki), there is no way of establishing the truth (other then trawling law archives!). I suspect that the story has some truth, but has been a little enhanced with subsequent re-tellings over the years.

Well, it's not particularly useful for citations, because of the potential for change, but a study did find it to be generally as accurate overall as an established print encyclopedia, or slightly more so. That study only examined entries in scientific fields, though.

I was watching a show on the Discovery channel about torture where they placed a young lady in a water torture device. After some time she began to cry and have a panic come over her from just being restrained. I can only imagine what would have happened to her had she endured tickle torture as well over a longer period of time.

It's hard to believe a feather could do that.....on the other hand, everything would drive one insane if it happens over a long period of time...and call it disturbed, but tickle torture stories just turn me on 😀

I don't think the story is true, but I think wikipedia.org can be creditable at times. It just depends on the article.

Sounds like a bit made up to me, but it could simply be exaggerated. Either way that's messed up, and I'd gladly strangle the guy who did that. You can write about it even if you want, but once you actually start taking something to far, you've crossed a very serious line.

It sounds like another typical fantasy story written by a tickler who wishes it were true and somehow made it's way on to that site. They're very unreliable. It just sounds so bogus.

it is posssible thatthis is true. on the hit american show called Mythbusters, they did a epsidoe where they had a hot ticklish red head girl tied to a rack and had slow water drip on her. For the first few hours it was no problem but eventually the girl lost it and was screaming. on the show she claimed that it did get to her. the hollywood brother found it interesting but thinks it would of been better if the lady tied up was being tickled

*nods emphatically*

There's a very serious difference between RP'd noncon and the real thing. It's a line some people don't notice--but screaming "NO STOP TICKLING" while under the feather, for most of us, doesn't constitute noncon. Being tied forcibally to a plank and tortured until you pass out....well.....

personally id have to say that while rolplaying tickle torture is fun, even if my lee wanted to be completely tickle tortured to her limit, I would still have a safe word in place. And the only way I think tickling could have a harmfull psycological effect was if you were affraid of it, or of the person doing it. Really the most damage can be done from tickling is depleating ones energy. witch can be dangerous of one isnt careful, but I dont think any of us would want to hurt out lees

It is possible for someone to be tickled to insanity! I read only a handful of articles saying that " over a period of time, someone or a group of people can be tickled to insanity". That isn't word for word, but i belive it!

Of all the shows that have been on (documentaries) about torture, not ONCE has tickle torture been addressed in any detail or length. I don't even remember it being mentioned except for ONE show, the first Ripleys Believe it or Not. Jack Palance.....pointed out a set of stocks and said very quickly in passing that they were used or could be used to "tickle the feet".

Nothing else after or since.

Man. That was way back in the early eighties. In 8o or 81. I remember him bending over a set of stocks saying " for the tickling of the feet" while moving his fingers. Good one, you took me back with that.

Interesting topic.

When I was a kid in parochial elementary school I was taught that some of the first missionaries to china were killed by being tickled to death. As I remember it, the missionaries had bands placed over their chests and they supposedly died of suffocation.

I have my doubts this is true... but it is something that was taught in school.

:ayyy:  😉
I was beginning to think I was the only one who actually saw that let along remember it!
Glad I could bring back a good memory for ya!

You cannot tickle someone to death they would die of dehydration and exhaustion rather than the tickling itself and it would take several days or maybe even weeks. I also do not think that they would go insane from it but they may act like a victim of abuse if they did not consent to the tickle torture

from personal experience, a womans foot is only ticklish for a few moments when u begin. After a minute or so it stops and has no effect.

Some womens feet remain ticklish yes.

However, other parts of the body such as armpits and body can be really ticklish and never gets desensitised
