i hope no one got this up but TickleLeague has an update a rough drawing about Amelia (Don't know who she is please tell me)

Indeedydo, that's a new one alright! I sense that I should know who it is, but I don't.....Hopefully, the S. Pluto one will be done soon.......😀

Amelia?

Looks like a char from the Rina Inverse anime/manga.
Can't remember the title - they renamed it in a weird way in italy.
But should be her.

Tnx for notifying! 🙂

Ah ok i'm from Australia well in my part of Australia i've never heard of the slayers except for buffy

Ahh, I wish I got to these posts sooner! Yes, it's Amelia wil Tesla Saillune from Slayers/NEXT/TRY (Coincidentally, my favorite Slayers character). She uses white magic and shamanistic spells! ^^x

Amelia is also in the Slayers Royal.

Basically Tickleleague is an anime tickling/panty shot art website.

If you want to be technical, Amelia's also in Slayers Royal 2, Slayers Premium (Movie 5, the only movie with the TV series cast) and the novels from which everything Slayers is based. In fact, Amelia has a novel that's all about her, without any of the other characters (Almost all the characters do, actually)! ^^x

You mean Lina Inverse's anime.
She is from the Slayers..

Rina elsewhere.

Tnx for telling me. I just love being corrected. 😉

Lina Inverse romanized (How the Japanese would speak it) is Rina Inbaasu -- so technically both are correct. In Amelia's case, her name in romanji is Ameria, Xelloss is Zerosu and Zelgadiss could be anything from Zerugadisu to...something.

As a curio fact, Gourym [hope sp is right] has been renamed Guido in italian dubbing.

They say it's all a matter of censorship: they buy japan anime, but since it's ill-aimed to italian kids, they purge it from japan references, such as kanjis, theme song and of course, names.

Odd, innit?

Reg's.

Gourry's right, just no random m on the end.

Anyway, I agree. I hate it when dubbing companies mess with an anime too much. Take Card Captor Sakura for example. They change the name of the show, most of the names of the characters, edit out the first few episodes (Like, episodes 2-5 or something), and then to top it all off, gave them all really horrible dub voices. In cases like this, the show becomes completly different to its orignal counterpart.

Other examples of dubbing gone terribly wrong is Robotech (Aka, Macross dubbed). They somehow dubbed it so differently that the plot changed, creating a completly new show! Another example is the non-anime show, Sentai (Aka, the show that got ripped to pieces and turned into Power Rangers). God, how I pitty that poor show...I admit, I watched Power Rangers when I was little, but after seeing the original Sentai shows in Japanese, I completly shunned its American counterpart.

This is why I always buy DVD's that have the original Japanese language on them >>x

Ah, a topic that has turned into a war on how the kanji is interpretated.

And your making english dubbing sound so horrible Battousai. For Card Captor Sakura, it was a show hacked and sliced to try and appeal to the Toonami audience, I imagine the uncut dubbed version is alright.

They couldn't show it uncut with the whole while Madison having a thing for Sakura and Yui's human form, whose name I always forget having a thing for Sakura's brother.

ADV Films and Pioneer do excellent english dubbing jobs, while for the most part atleast.

It is true that there are some good dubs, but unfortunatly Card Captor Sakura still isn't one of them. Even before it was on Toonami CCS was badly cut -- thats why when you buy it on DVD you have the choice of either buying "Cardcaptors" or "Card Captor Sakura". They're that different...it's pretty ridiculas.

Oh well, on the subject of good dubs, theres Evangelion, Slayers, Tenchi Muyo (I like it, at least), Jubei-chan: Secret of the Lovely Eye-Patch, Excel Saga (How the voice actress speaks so fast without it being sped up is amazing) and if course, Love Hina.

Well, it isn't really that bad, considering all the DBZ dvds and they have a cut and uncut version for everyone. Of course it wasn't as heavily edited as CCS.

Well, I'd name some good dubs, but I imagine you'd like the original vocal cast better because Megumi did it.

For example 3x3 Eyes, X, K.O. Beast, Record of Lodoss War

Ah yes, I did like KO Beasts Dub. Also, speaking of 3x3 Eyes, there have been at least 2 dubs of that. The newer one, that can be found on the 3xe Eyes DVD's, was awful in my opinion. Pai sounded WAY too mature, and the voices were just...boring. However, the original dub that I had on my old VHS copies of the series was a lot better. Not the greatest dubbing ever done, but at least the voices had character and emotion in them -- and they fit the characters a lot better than the latest re-dub.

There is the streamline version and the pioneer version. The redub is Pioneers, and you just tore apart my dub.

Pai sounding too mature? I don't see that, she had the bubbly voice, with her serious part when someone was in danger, and the arrogant Sanjiyan.

Boring? They all seemed to work quite well for me.

And as for the Streamline version, there is a major problem with that version. Very simply they dubbed it so the last episode of the 2nd OAV ended it. Like Kaiyanwang was destroyed. Bah, so incorrect. Pioneer left it like it should be, an incomplete anime.

Streamline? Hmm...I wonder if that's the same one I was thinking of -- the one I had was released by Manga Video, and I think they'd translated that too. That was in the UK though, it might have just been a totally different dub there.

Anyway, sorry for having a go at the dub you like >.>x but I still like my old ones better. Oh, but I like the Japanese version better than that, so yeah.

That is the only other dub I know of. That is the one that there selling at the right stuf for about $2.99 on VHS per tape.

I imagine though, it's probably just a matter of what dub you see first.

I've seen many violent discussions over the 3x3 Eyes dub.:sowrong:

Yes, while I'm a really mild anime fan, I was aware of that. 🙂
Besides, Macross was one of my fav show back then, in early middle ages... 😀 😀 😀

About the dubbing and such - we are kind of lucky: they say italian dubbers are quite good. At least, they are good actors; sometimes characterization is lacking, though.

What you can blame is translation - and again, the need to shoehorn animes for a younger target.

I won't tell you what they've done to Lupin/Cliff Hanger.
That is pure anime murder.

Oh, btw, back to topic, I hope Tk League draws Amelia's feet too! 😀
It'd be a loss if he didn't. 🙂

Reg's!

Well, unfortunately he won't. His sketches are the final product, he just adds more detail then colors it.
