Hello people,

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the site will be updated this coming week. The board software needs to be brought up to the latest version. A lot of you have already seen the new features this version will bring if you have an account over at the TMF. You can also test drive these new forum goodies at the official vBulletin site as well. Let us know what you like, what you don't like, and we'll use the feedback to finalize the update process.

Also, the site is getting a new design as well. It's only been a year and 1/2 right? Heh. So yeah, now is your chance to give some design feedback on what you want to see here at TickleTheater. What colors do you like? Do you like a fixed width or a fluid looking site. Do you want an option to change the primary colors of the site at a whim? Do you want your own blog? Do you want to have a chatroom to chat in. Tell us something you'd like to see that we haven't mentioned here. I can't guarantee that we can do it, but we won't know unless you ask.

I encourage everyone that sees this thread to leave a reply even if it will be your first post. I want to hear from you, you, maybe not you, you, and especially you over there. (it's very late here...) So, I'm all ears, let me have it... (Wait, no, not the face!) :ayyy:

Phase 1 Complete
The site board has been upgraded to the latest version. Once our new design is done, it will be installed along with a few other features as well. 🙂

Tobi already gave the chatroom idea, but it never lived... the design is by my opinion very good, nothing to be changed, because the colors are calming and the interface is excellent... good job you guys 😀

Hi!

Hi...

Having a vested interest in story writing, I would like to see
a more robust word processor. One that will import tabs, italics
and EM's into the forum.

It would save hours in having to re-edit each post, and avoid
help avoid typos.

Thanks!
Luckycat

ooh! change forum colors on a whim? *drools* sign me up, i like that idea!

also, chatroom is a must. have no idea what a blog is...

Can you create a forum for feet ticklers to meet. Finding a tickle partner is the toughest thing for many of us. Any ideas on how to bring feet and fingers together would be most welcomed.

that's the personals section for ya, bro.

@Bashiku -- I was thinking of adding this chat program to the site.

@Luckycat -- Can you give me an example of another site that does what you're asking?

@Tickle56 -- Might be able to do something with the new Social Groups functionality. I'll look into it.

@BigNorm -- Agreed with the chatroom idea. A blog is a kind of like an online journal/diary which other people can leave messages on. So like your own "thoughts" section you can write and have people comment on. Here is an example.

why not xat? It is easier to put on, it has more smileys and has easier interactive system for admins and owners...

I haven't seen Xat before. AddonChat can be integrated with the site's member system so there isn't the need for double accounts.

I haven't been on the TMF in a while, but one thing I've seen recently that I particularly don't like is the 'hover over the attachment to see a bigger version.' I personally think it's inane and renundant, and if you like what you see in the first place to click immediately, there are now two attachments you have to close.

If possible, that's one feature I'd prefer not to carry over.

I second the embedded images idea. Also, not that I dislike the current TT banner, but it would be nice to see a change. For the chatroom idea, I am more interested in membership integration than extra features if it comes to a sacrifice.

Hope this helps.

A new banner is coming, but I don't want to ruin the surprise. Keep the feedback coming! 🙂

I think it's a good idea. the chat room may have failed before, but I'm sure things might turn out giid again, once they (the members that never/haven't been to it) get used to it someday.

Even though it would mean the loss of several thousand members, I think you should place some sort of posting rule in effect. You know, like, you have to post a certain number of replies/threads to access the video sections or something like that.

I peek at the backgrounds of members from time to time, and see many, many people who have been on board for over 5 years, never posting shit, yet around all the time. Dead weight. Make `em work for their jollies.

Well, as 4 me, i'm w8n 4 the new look
i hope it'll b better... like everytime i log on, the colors change

I've seen similar system on few forums... They give a rule that you first must introduce yourself inside the general thread and after that you get only about 5% access to the forum. Every time you post you unlock new threads... just like video games 😀

We used to have the "Power of Ten" rule which limited privileges for members with less than 10 posts but abolished it because many users spammed to get 10 posts and deleting the spams made a lot of extra work for the mods.

There is not much love among the admins/staff for embedded images, but we might allow embedded clickable thumbnails and other very small files. Embedded flash content is a definite no-go for both performance and security reasons.

Well you should count on members support about power of ten rule. We all care about TT and we all want for it to evolve. In short, we the members should help you to conduct the power of ten, because even we don't like spammers or lurkers...

I'm not sure I'm following your line of thinking. The Power of Ten, which gave full privileges after ten posts, was abolished after a lot of people simply spammed ten messages and stopped. But because "even we don't like spammers or lurkers," we should reinstate the rule?

Logically, there would be more spam during the Power of Ten because there was actually an incentive to do so, and there's no easy way of getting rid of lurkers, even with a post limit. As someone who actually did the Power of Ten without spamming, I still posted my ten messages, then only very sporadically posted for another two years. It didn't stop lurkers, and it surely wouldn't stop spammers.

It is one thing to be sporadically here, but Tobi sees some people who are everyday here and have 0 post... their join date starts from 2 years ago...
If we want best for TT we all have to make sacrifices... bring in the sacrificial goat!

Yeah. It seems like there's gotta be SOME way to disable the freeloaders...

My thoughts...
Please do not establish this mouse-hovering effect. It looks cool and new and whatever but it is slow and prevents people from clicking the picture to open it in a new tab or window. After some clicks there is nothing left of this cool-and-new effect but it only sucks.
Maybe there are other gimmicks planned, please think about it ;-)

The posting-rule can be judged both ways. It makes people post. But that could be the problem.
There is no use in posts that are only made to get 10 posts. Just write "oh nice" below some media or write senseless comments or whatever.
Maybe those posters better just download stuff without making the others read that spam.
