I haven't had the experience to do this but I was was wondering about tickling in total pitch black darkness . You have no sense of sight only the sense of sound , the sense of smell , the sense of taste and especially the sense of touch . What then would your tickling be like ?

When you lose one of your natural scenses the others become stronger..For me I'm blind in my right eye and although i can see very well out of my left eye. My scense of touch tremondously increased

Luvgirlsfeet , the senses do seem very interconnected to where one or more will take over and increase . Our bodies are quite unique to say the least and good thing for us .

Many people have reported being more ticklish when blindfolded, and that is my experience. 😀

Give it a try, Danny. All you have to do is blindfold youself and your partner.

Well if you're both going to be blind, you can just do it in a dark room.

"The blind tickling the blind..." Heh heh. 😛

But there also might be a difference between being, say, blind just for the tickling occasion, and actually being a blind person doing some tickling. I've been "blind for a day" (as part of a psychology class), and while I did notice that I seemed to hear and feel more keenly, I doubt my experience was the same as the long-term experience of someone who loses his or her sight.

It's also fairly common for the 'lee to be blindfolded, but no so for the 'ler. It seems to me it would just make your job harder. But Redmage is right - this should really be tested experimentally. 😀

(Okay, last post, I swear - I'm boarding an international flight in eight hours!)

As said in this thread..........when a sense is removed others will take over to compensate so one would presume one would be more ticklish or sensitive if the sense of sight were removed.

I seriously doubt the same would be true if say the sense of smell were taken away or the sense of taste. However a major sense like sight would make the rest of the senses including "feel" that much more sensitive.

Oh and the same would hold true (the person not being more sensitve to touch) if that person were deaf). I think the major factor here is the loss if sight and that sensory loss only as far as "feeling" is concerned.

Quite right. I have little to no sense of smell (lucky for you Ed, huh? 😛 )and I'm pretty sure that while it DOES affect my sense of taste, it has no affect on tickling.

You will dearly pay for that!

Must be why I liked you right away.

For the parts about taste and smell ( Sweat ....the smell and salty taste , perfume or cologne ) It would seem darkness would work for both ler and lee , though each one reacting different .

You could try that, but blindfolds are probably easier than getting a room truly dark. Also, it's easier to remove a blindfold than it is to find a light switch in an emergency.

Tickling With One Less Sense
Okay... only because my smartass button got pushed and the reset isn't working... I just gotta do this...

Tickling with one less sense is better than tickling with no sense at all.

Thank God I got that out of my system!

I've never been a huge fan of blindfolds. For me, tickling is about the interaction between those involved. Cutting off being able to see one another kinda puts a damper on that aspect for me. However, the couple of times that we HAVE used one, I definately find myself more responsive. I think it's mainly not knowing when/where I'm going to get it. I can't prepare for it. So, it gets to me more.

Hello all,

I rarely post on here, but I feel qualified to give my two cents, or four senses as the case may be, on this discussion. As my name indicates, I am both extremely ticklish, and totally blind. I also have experience as both lee and ler. There is definitely a difference between being blindfolded and actually being blind. The helplessness people feel is of course due to temporary sensory deprivation. For me, there is no trouble knowing where my ler is, simply because I always use my hearing to locate people anyway. In terms of being a ler myself, the suggestion that blindness makes the job harder is incorrect. Again, this is due to my being accustomed to life without sight. I think it would probably be quite difficult for someone who isn’t used to it at first. I feel that being blind in many ways actually makes me a better than average ler. One reason is that I am able to focus on the most important element of tickling, touch. For centuries, blind people have excelled at the art of ancient massage for much the same reason. Another thing in my favor is dexterity. My hands and fingers are sensitive, nimble, and strong from years of reading Braille, typing, and all the other things that I rely on my sense of touch for. This is hardly conclusive in any scientific way, but I hope it, if you’ll pardon the pun, sheds some light on this interesting topic.

That makes sense, your sense of touch has been perfected over the years since you use it for almost everything. I've seen how the blind can know hopw someone or something looks like just by feeling it, so this would make sense for tickling too.

Thank you Ticklishblind for posting , it was very well written indeed . I put this thread figuring tickling this way would open up a whole different way of doing it , a more of an inner sight where the other senses would be relied on and as a result become very much more sensitive and greatly enhance the whole experience .
