Blimey! a tough one..........
...in no special order:-
1. Stan Tracy "Captain Adventure" probably the only known example of a public autopsy of a (at the begining) perfectly servicable Bosendorfer Imperial grand.
2. Bill Evans "The Paris Concert" live, eat and breathe your instrument and this is how you can sound.
3. Steely Dan "AJA" unique sound, bitter, sarcastic lyrics, and yet heart breakingly moving.
4. Azymuth "Rapid Transit" the spirit and flavour of Brazil moulded in the hands of master muscians.
5. Frank Sinatra/Nelson Riddle "Only the Lonely" a collection of ravishing romantic cameos, but always saved from mawkishness or sentimentality by virtue of Riddles bitter sweet scoring, and Sinatras masterfull control. Listen to the arrangements and marvel at the fact riddle wrote the whole lot in a week!!! one very heavy cat.
