Rule is "don't".
Custom is "don't overdo".
My way is: you overdo, I edit, no prob.
You overdo it twice, you get a warning.
You disregard my advice, I show you to a nice sandbox where you can safely play FAR from other players.

Please keep in mind: avoid inconsistencies when "autopiloting" other chars through a situation [if you can't refrain from...].
That means: don't have them say/do something against their nature/capabilities - so check their sheet and previous posts.
Also, when two players post clashing actions, please report posts so we can straighten things out.
Typical clash of posts: you state that Kymis goes east and grabs Noelle's char with her.
Should Noelle elect to go west, instead, we would edit your post and have players disregard the clashing action.
This is also useful when two players post something at the same time - it happens - and their actions clash.
We can edit, prune or merge posts so as to make narration smooth.
During actual game I'll be adding italicised notes in posts, so you can know where I had to do some cut'n'paste work.

Hope this answers your question.
At any rate, read the corollaries. I usually cover a lot of "what if" scenarios.
