A responsible decision? For me? You shouldn't have. 😀
Well first of all, I'd like to thank everybody who's commented on my pics here. That's grand of you to say, and as always, I appreciate it. 😉
Now, my fellow Tickericans, we move on to the more controversial topic of spam.
First off, let me just make it known that in my own threads, I really don't mind it. It's a bit of free bumping, if anything, and that can't be all bad. 😛
But I also realise that a lot of other people don't like it. So now we are left with thee choices:
A] We delete the spam and all traces of hate - let love rule this forum. 😀
B] We move the off-topic posts to another thread, and let it serve as a discussion on spamming to which people can contribute and read at their own pleasure.
C] We can leave it all here and either have it carry on, or eventually get the thread closed.
Personally, I don't think that 'C' will solve anything. So it's basically 'A' or 'B'.
I'd say, whether or not we keep the posts as another discussion depends on whether or not people want to have that discussion.
For two pins I'd say to go ahead and delete it - seeing arguments isn't always entertaining, especially when you're semi-responsible for them. Plus Vlad and Excess have both said that they're done arguing. Only two bad things would come from deleting the posts: A, that not everybody who might want to contribute to the discussion would have a chance, and B, this impressive, dramatic statement of mine would fall into oblivion and I'd continue being known as TT's most uncharismatic member. 😛
If we prune it, the discussion can keep going, which is grand if that's what you want. Only problem is, if it led to more infighting, which doesn't always help.
Sorry about the babble - it was basically me thinking aloud. I've reached my decision. 🙂
We can prune the thread and put it into a seperate topic for now, and then if it just gets nasty or personal, perhaps we can close it? If that's okay. After looking at all the options, it seems that that's the one which would probably satisfy the most people.
And thanks for asking me, Val - it's nice to see a forum run in an organised way. 😀 (I once moderated a forum, and I was, shall we say, a bit over-the-top on the rules. I even went as far as suspending members who openly disagreed with me. Eventually my account was deleted by the Admin and mentioning my name became punishable by death. 😛 )
(How's that for irony - I went off-topic in my own big speech on spam)
