Which raises the question: what is it about fingers slipped up inside one's shirt that makes the sensation so much more unbearably ticklish than nearly anything else?

I know, I know, it's psychological...

I think another reason this tickles so bad is the same reason being blindfolded makes tickling more intense...

You cannot see where the tickle is comming from or heading too!

Only mysterious bulges of hands under the shirt that give little clue about where the tickle will strike next. Great stuff!

I would add to Toetally's observation that I also think that hands under the shirt tickle differently than free hands, being trapped fairly close to the ticklish target with less finger mobility. I think this results in a different set of sensations for the 'lee, which for some, might increase the ticklishness.

In any case, since I forgot to do it earlier, I plan to try it tonight on my 'lee boy, and I'll report back on the results. It's all in the name of science, of course 😉

There's also the matter of the increased sense of vulnerability. When someone's got her hand(s) up your shirt, having penetrated your paltry defenses, she then has the freedom either to rest her hand(s) there innocuously or to throw you into convulsive giggles with a simple fluttering of the fingertips. The anticipatory feeling of vulnerability puts every nerve ending at high alert.
