Do you have a day when you decorate cemeteries? I know that you Swedes have stayed out of a lot of wars, but MEMORIAL DAY is mainly for the Veterans who have passed on.

Ok, since I'm a historian, I have to comment on this! xD

It is true that Sweden was forced to appeasement politics towards the Germans, but we didn't really have a choice due to an inferior military. The Germans would have Blitz'd us from several fronts and then the Jews of Europe wouldn't have had a safe haven to escape to anymore. So staying neutral kinda served a good purpose in the end, especially since people like Raoul Wallenberg (who's a personal hero of mine, by the way) were able to save hundreds of thousands of Jews from the Nazi's by giving them improvised Swedish passports. Basically, politics are dirty, and idealism will get you killed. I'll personally defend the policies, because the ends justified the means.

Also, don't forget that we sent volunteers to Finland in the Finnish Winter War, and accepted a LOT of Finnish children that were placed in Swedish foster families during the war. 🙂 But I know that history lectures can be boring, I just wanted to straighten that out! 😛
