I'm not way familiar with the WBC, but most rednecks in general seem to hold back society, so I don't know why they'd be any different.

They have the right to free speech- but they're disrupting funerals! I absolutely believe they have the right to proclaim their awful views, but there ARE some very minor limits to free speech.

Simple examples: you can't legally walk around preaching thru a megaphone after 10PM cause you'll violate a local noise ordinance. You can't hoot and holler in the back of a courtroom or you'll get escorted out (and possibly arrested) There IS a time and place to shut up, and a funeral is one of those time and places.

I agree, but in this case, they're only violating social folkway or more, not actual law.

Though not completely similar, I'm reminded of the Supreme Court decision where we were given this gem: one man's obscenity is another man's lyric. I'm lucky and many of my comrades in military funeral honors duty have not made contact with these clowns. Our instructions are to leave plenty of distance between us and them. I have participated in close to 900 military funerals as a bugler/flag folder/presenter (sometimes all three). Each one was and will be different. None so far has been defiled by people so low.

Well, you seem to be misreading my post.

A) It's a personal list, and has no legal affiliation.
B) It's the opinion of the general population. The majority. If the same thing annoys nine out of ten people, then they probably should do something about it anyways.

Remember that whole World War 2 thing? That was probably about seven out of ten people frowning on Hitler's regime.

I think this should be seriously consider: maybe 'legitimizing' it through a petition or something, I don't know, it's hundreds of miles away from me (let alone in another country), but: revenge is best served cold. :thumbsup

And ironically that doesn't appear to mean squat to the Supreme Court. This ruling is just a long list of rulings that I don't like that they've made recently. The previous one was that governmental bodies in the USA can take over a person's property without the person's consent or giving compensation (at least I believe that was the case). And now this.
