So why are you Brits so keen on taking a jolly good arse-rogering from the oil companies? :blaugh:

I have to laugh with you, Mate...

When I was a kid, gas was 30 cents a gallon and a movie ticket was 50 cents

Now gas is not quite 3.00 per gallon about ten times what it was then, yet a movie ticket is 10.00 ! 20 times what it cost when I was growing up.....

So why is it people dont care about paying high prices for mindless entertainment yet they scream bloody murder when they have to pay a little more for the gallon of gas that transports them to the theater....

No sense what so ever......just something to compalin about like the price of a postage stamp.....39 cents! Highway robbery...never mind that you can have a letter picked up and then hand delivered across the country in a couple of days for less than half a buck...

But complain away folks....it is highly amusing.......... :rotate:

I'm glad you're amused by getting screwed by big oil companies! I'm not finding it very funny at all! Oil companies having record profits and instead of sharing it with consumers, they just raise the prices even higher! Why??? Because they can! 😱 😱 :yowzer: :yowzer:

And I don't go to the movies, but I do drive to work everyday. There's a huge difference. :ignite: :ignite:

And Bill gates should share his profits with all that use computers????

It is called capitalism.....free enterprise...the "American Dream"....

And for the record it is very very rare that I will even rent a movie no less see one at the theater....And I drive to work 30 miles a day there and 30 miles back.... That is about 6-7 $ per day x 5 or 30-35 $ per week just to get to work...add my wifes to that and it is about 50-60 $ per week....Just work mileage....

No, I am amused at the rantings because the reality is that people will pay 5-6 $ per gallon for bottled tap water disguised as a healthy alternative to drink, and yet they whine about paying very little in the relative scheme of things for the liquid that gets them where they are going...you want to talk profits??? Let us see what kind of profits the bottled water industry has raked in over the last few years.....NY city tap water is better for you than some of the junk we consume on a daily basis at an outrageous cost......

Where is the profit sharing to the consumer there?.....There isnt any, nor should there be.....

i'm not giving up my honda pilot suv just because of rising gas prices... damn it, the bestest vehicle we ever owned..... sniffs..

It is my opinion that all SUVs should be banned or made to drive in the far right lane so others can actually see the road.... :imouttahe

Here in Germany, fuel is about 5 $ per US gallon, and the price went up 7 cents right in time for the holidays, as they always do... :yowzer:

I liked your first post Venray but I gotta disagree with this one. The phrase "The American Dream" died about 15 years ago. Nowadays its more like "The American Nightmare!" I know this isnt gonna be popular but America? I'm sorry but its time someone just comes out and says it...FUCK AMERICA!!!😱

The only positive note to all this is that it might generate more interest in moving toward oil alternatives and alternatives to driving... like WALKING.

At the very least perhaps people will stop driving just for the sake of driving, Mac...we can only hope....

Why not share profits with those that made you richer than God?? Why not lower or maintain prices? I don't have to buy computers once a week, but I do buy gas that often! It's gouging and abusing consumers, plain and simple.

You're right about one thing--it is the AMERICAN way these days! :disgust:

Sigh...sorry hon...but people don't go into business to make profits and turn them back over to the consumer.....

My whole point here is that $3.00 per gallon is NOT unreasonable....and perhaps if the states and feds didnt tax gas so much, it would be even more reasonable......

Let the government cut back on what THEY make just to let us get to work...
It should not be up to the businesses to do so or we may as well convert to socialism and start a whole new way of life..... 😕

Hmmm....let's see...

My employer is over 20 miles away from my house. If I started today, I'd probably would arrive to work by Saturday or Sunday.

Any other viable and realistic suggestions besides greedy oil companies bringing prices to reasonable levels?

Personally hon,

I don't care who does what--I just want relief from my financial rape by the oil companies, government, and my cheap employer who gives a 3% raise but the cost of living rises higher and higher......... :cry1: :ranty:

3 % was the going rate this year for us too....I know where you are coming from sweety, but we cant complain about businesses making profit without changing a heck of a lot of the things we do.....

I don't have the answers...I wish I did...
