It use to be the only time I really watched anime were for the tickling parts but since I got netflix thats changed. This is why I'm coming to you guys because theres a smorgasbord of anime goods on this site alone to get an experts opinion.
I've been hearing of some newer animes landing in mainstream water such as attack on titan and sword something (art?) online that are new to toonami. I was curious if their worth watching or not. I dont have mass free time to sift through b.s but enough to slowly watch a series or 2 on netflix. So far Ive seen kaze no stigma, both FMAs, just finishing Fairytail, but seen FLCL like 10 times lol. If you guys have a couple suggestions I'd really like to hear um.

Never watched Sword Art Online, I've heard that it's pretty bland from friends who've watched it. However, Attack on Titan I got sucked into even though I honestly didn't expect to like it!

It's pretty actiony, and has... I guess a mysterious plot? (Unless you're like me and over-analyze everything hahaha). I'd say give it a try if you're able to stomach some realistic drama and light gore (blood and stuff not like... organs flying in your face). One of the biggest pros about it is the heroes actually react like real people (well, realistic brave people). They aren't sues/stus.

I absoluetly hated Attack on Titan, even watched the whole series and i felt they ended it way to fast, they completed any task they were suppose to adn the story line was really stupid. AS for Sword Art Online, LOVED IT! I love the story an everything about it

Pretty sure I can stomach through Attack on Titans gore because after I posted this I got on netflix and watched Happy Tree Friends.... But dang could use a tie breaker. Think I'll start with which ever has more stars hahah

I'll give a vote for AoT. I found it entertaining.

In my opinion:

Attack on Titan if you're into action anime and philosophy, but it's mostly about philosophy

Sword Art Online is good, but the problem is that there was little development in characters. It was easily readable, honestly. It has its strong points, but it also has its weak points pretty much, so this one is a give or take anime. Has its bits of philosophy that's for sure

Kill la Kill is fucking awesome. IF you like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, you'll like Kill la Kill as the minds of TTGL are involved in that as well.

Kenzen Robo Daimidaler is just lolz all over.

Fairy Tail and One Piece are consistent and break the shonen formula relatively well.

Old ones you can consider looking at because the internet is at your disposal (AnimeFushigi is a good site for example): Cowboy BeBop, Trigun, Madoka, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Steins;Gate, Code Geass, Samurai Champloo

Seen a little bit of Gurran Lagann it was decent. The real problem is using Netflix to watch anime and Im not sure GL is there. Trigun is but it didnt get my interest quick enough to continue after ep 2 or 3. Samurai Champloo is there too but I've yet to look into it. I heard so much about NGE that I had to look for myself. EVAs seem really bad ass! But sadly the Netflix problem comes up agn. Where do you go to see this stuff? As far as the names or whatever good sir, you lost me lol. Thanks for the input though!

Attack on Titan's good if you can stomach and blood and language (understandable, as people are being eaten ALIVE!), but seems to be an overglorified vore series. But still good, overall, I think.
Love Hellsing OVA for detail, violence/action, Neon Genesis Evangelion's good if you're into philosophy and a bit mecca.
Escaflowne's good for medieval fighting (with some 'magicks' attached).
Kenichi: the mightiest disciple is good for learning various fighting styles, as a 'mediocre' kid tries to get strong enough to defend those who are weaker; hajime no ippo seems to be the 'foundation' of kenichi, detailed where a guy/kid learns only boxing details.
Witchblade's good for some 'supernatural'(?) fighting, but it's mainly balloon boobs.
Basilisk offers fighting, ninja style, with some supernatural element: two warring ninja clans, with each being gifted in a specific skill (ex. extend limbs; control their hair, using it like a weapon, etc.).
Claymore's action, has a female protagonist, fighting against yoma (demons), while trying to control the own 'demon' within herself
Angel Sanctuary's just awesome drawing, mixed with violence and angels/demons.
Tenjho Tenge is detailed martial arts fighting, with some watermelon boobs.
Wallflower's about 'pretty' boys, trying to gain free rent by making the landlady's female relative a 'proper lady'.
If you simply want mindless, gratuitous gore, Elfen lied seems a pretty good one, but there's pre-teen nudity (drifted onto beach, no memory, no verbal skills aside from 'Nyu'. This 'horror' makes you sad for the "bad" girl, showing the 'monstrosity' of humans, trying to eradicate these 'horned monsters'.)
Trinity Blood's good if you like violence with a touch of supernatural, but still Good vs. Evil (a 'kinder' version of Hellsing).
Cromartie High School's good if you want mindless idiocy.
Just what popped to my head, first. *shrug* Should keep you 'entertained' for a bit, if you like any/all of them.

If you're into more mature themes, you may also want to give Cowboy Bebop a shot. It's about space bounty hunters, so it's an actiony show too.

What sort of themes do you enjoy most that'll help limit suggestions XD

Ahhh yeahhh the ending really pissed me off >_<
That's why you don't make an anime adaptation before the manga is done or close to it! Ughhh.

Balloon boobs ahaha.
Ah man Hellsing was pretty good.

Elfen Lied though, egh. I tried to watch that but it just... I dunno the first two episodes just kept making me mad. The needless killing, how much the idiot ball gets tossed around. I know a lot of people loved it, it just wasn't my thing. :\

Cromartie omg XD
My boyfriend couldn't breathe half the time in that show.

If you're into more less serious/kinda ecchi shows, To Love Ru was kinda funny. It's quite the harem, though. But the character variety is nice haha.

Oh man now I'm starting to remember a lot of shows... I'll just stop before I make a wall of text. XD

Uhh themes. Yes. Well, uhh The mecca based animes get my attention easily. Supernaturals are my favorite though. kaze no stigma had me hooked in the first 10 minutes. Hellgirl is another I found interesting but IDK why lol Philosophy is stuff like FMA right? Cant think of any others I've seen in that category. The stuff like rosarai + vampire and my bride is a mermaid is just so un entertaining.. Im forcing myself to finish rosario + vampire since I only have to waste my life for 2 more episodes LOL. Yet FLCL was my favorite? oh well.

Like I said though, you guys are awesome! Thnks =D

One Piece I think is a must to watch, then. Also, Excel Saga is pretty 'insane', but don't know if you'll find the random... EVERYTHING too much, or not. :lol
Hetalia seems pretty entertaining (goofy), and Ouran High School Host Club (?) is more of a ... bishounen (WORDS COME! 😛issed) - a pretty-boy, cute, funny/goofy show.
For supernatural... Inuyasha, Bleach, Blood, Corpse Princess, Vampire Hunter D, Soul Eater, some suggestions.

Glad we could help and you've found 'some' anime you seem to like from all of this

Girls und Panzer.

Imagine if you will, high school girls battling it out against other teams in W.W. tanks. Nobody gets killed when the shell hits the tank. The armor piercing shell does not penetrate like a real one would.

Anyone seen AirGear? I <3 BMX and am actually on my way to the SK8 park. Roller sport animes seem... 50/50 chance I guess lol.

Air Gear was boring until the ending. And by then, it was already over. It picked up too late, in other words. Its best to read the manga.

I know these aren't new, but since I'm also into mecha, especially super robot ones, please allow me to suggest these ones:
- Getter Robot (and Shin Getter Robo)
- Mazinger Z (and Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z - Hen)
- Koutetsushin Jeeg
- Super Robot Taisen OG (Divine Wars & The Inspector)

The rest are the ones I've been watching recently, and their genre are (basically) comedy:
- Kuroko no Basuke - sport, shounen
- The World God Only Knows - supernatural, a bit shoujo I think....
- Binbougami ga! - supernatural, parody.

I hope you like them.

Have you ever seen the Robotech series? It goes back to late 1980's.

UUGGHH!! D=< I know I didnt mention it before but Intial D is really what kinda started this interest in watching animes. It baffles me that an anime seems more legit when it come to cars and driving than the Fast and Furious movies lol. Anyway, a new season came out earlier this year - Stage 5! Just check FUNanimations site and it doesnt cover it :'( probably will have to check that site Zeph

If you're referring to me, then yes, I've watched them. Though, it's more well known as Macross here. And they also released their newer series like Macross 7 (around late 90s or early 2k) and Macross Frontier (2007).

I would recommend starting with Naruto: Shippuden, One Piece, and Bleach (those three are pretty much the staple of Shonen Jump) but I also recommend Vampire Hunter D, Demon City Shinjuku, Dirty Pair, Queen's Blade (ALOT of nudity on that one so just be warned), Dominion Tank Police, and Toriko (though you might find the manga of Toriko alot more enticing than the anime [which apparently is heavily censored]).

INVID SAGA ALL THE WAY! Heh, I was a huge fan of the Rook / Rand relationship when I was wittle. I LOVED Robotech! So many wonderfully awesome and tragically sad moments. The only anime to really make me cry, laugh, and smile. ^_^

So I was gunna continue watching FairyTail, even started the episode I stopped on Netflix then after a few was just bored. I looked at Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan, and Blue Exorcist to see which had more stars. So I started watching SAO and I simply COULD NOT STOP! In 3 days I watched all 25 episodes!! I think Zeph said there wasnt much character development, which I agree. Its was easily predictable at first (maybe b.c Imma gamer though?) but there were hella twists at the end. A few times in the last 2 episodes I stopped and yelled [ no joke, out loud ] "NO! Fuck this Im DONE!" LOL Havent seen many but SAO has got to be the greatest anime EVAR!

you'll be happy to know that SAO is getting a second season. The next arc is coming on! Looking forward to that cuz in the manga, a lot happens which I'm happy for.

Bleach and Naruto: Shippuuden are your typical shonen anime, which involves the hundreds of episodes long repetitive shows with many many plots, many many battles, and a lot of crazy stuff. That typical shonen formula, lets say. Its not my cup of tea per say, but if you are to look at those long winded anime, go for Fairy Tail or One Piece. I heard nothing but positive reviews about them and how much different they are compared to Bleach and Naruto. I've disliked those long shows and started to favor the short, 24-50 episode long shows (Thanks a lot to filler). Code Geass is good.

Also, go for Kill la Kill and, recently, No Game No Life.

Yeah dude! I was just curious if there was a 2nd season so I looked and was freaking stoked! But that was short lived because I seen SAO: Infinity Moment and got curious agn. I guess its a game, starts at the battle between HeathCliff and Kirito and continues from lvl 75 in Aincrad. Everywhere I looked ppl were asking for a english version. So maybe you can clear something up for me Zeph, is SAO: Hollow Fragment a sequel for Infinity Moment or the english version? I Didnt want to spoil the plot for season 2 so I stopped looking lol Think I ruined it anyway because I read Kirito gets trapped in the Under World or something of The World Seed.

I seen InuYasha, and it seems like thats the shonen style your talking about. It, to me, was really just soo ddddrrraaawwnnnn out hahah But with my addictive personality I hate that 'end of a TV show now what' feeling so these flawless and short animes are buggin me!!

Both are games in alternate universes. And well, Inuyasha is also a Shoujo anime xD. I'm pretty sure at this point, One Piece is still going strong. 644 episodes and going cuz of how good it is, manga AND anime.
