Judging people by the instrument they play

When I was a music education major, we discussed how you can stereotype people by their instruments. Trumpet players all think they are the Don Juan's of the orchestra. Oboe players have beady eyes. Sax players are really laid back. Low Brass players always look like they have a hangover.

For orchestra/band I play tuba. I like to play organ/piano. I don't think my voice is good, but the most perfect instrument in the world is the human voice. (here we go again strel)

Sax players! ....laid back?

Well maybe up to a point, but try doing a gig with TWO sax players then you will see a different side to them. Its that same dynamic you get when two women turn up at a party in the same outfit and you get that "whats SHE doing here" vibe all night. You can forget any group interaction for the night and you can kiss goodbye to any solo space for any one other than "Zoot prima" and "Stan donna" who will both develop severe cases of musical dysentry lasting the whole night. Do I come across as a touch cynical about the music business to any one!???

Yup...with good reason. I've seen the same thing.

A major pipe organ properly tuned to its cathedral is the prince of instruments. Voice has its place though, and it's a lot more portable.
