My greatest fear would involve getting "locked-in" syndrome. For more info on that, watch "the Diving Bell and the Butterfly".

I have the same fear. I get paranoid that I'm going to have a stroke and be rendered completely and permanently immobile but conscious of it all. It's because I feel like I have so much to do with my life, and it would be horrible to be forced to lay there and watch life go by knowing that you're incapable of achieving anything that requires you to move your body, only to eventually die anyway.

I guess there's always the possibility of slight recovery of movement, or I could write a novel by moving my eyes or blinking in code, but I doubt there'd be anyone who'd want to sit around and write for me. But I did see an episode of Scrubs once where a person with "locked in" syndrome had a computer that wrote things according to his eye-movements. I actually tried looking into it on the internet but couldn't find anything, so I don't know how real that technology is.

I don't know, have I emphasised how scary the prospect of this is for me enough yet?

The Dark, clowns..(dont ask), Mirrors,
most current and for real fear is facing upcoming spinal surgery..For those who dont know.. I have a bone disease and an 80 yr old spine in a 39 yr old body... have to have a total reconstructive spinal surgery this year.. I may never walk again and or be even in more excruciating pain than I am now.
