I hate it when people I care about stab me in the back. It happens at an alarming rate and I'm starting to get a little bit sick of that. I also hate it when people lie to me or tip-toe around the truth because they want to feel better about hurting me. Newsflash: you're hurting me. Sorry you feel like a horrible person because of it, but you know what? Maybe you deserve to feel that way. It's called a conscience. Go watch Pinocchio if you're unfamiliar with the term. Maybe you feel like a jerk because you are a jerk. And if that's a message you keep hearing from people, well, maybe it's time to take heed of the old Irish saying: "If three people tell you you're drunk, lie down." Unless, of course, you just don't give a shit, which makes you a bad person and part of humanity's little problem.
I hate having high expectations of people or holding people in high regard only to have them disappoint me in the end.
I hate it when people can't communicate (or, more likely, won't communicate). All relationships across the animal kingdom, friendly and intimate, are based upon communication. If you can't communicate, guess what? You're likely malfunctioning. Face it, fix it, and get well soon.
I hate emotional coldness or detachment. It's not a "different" form of expression when someone tells you they love you and you ignore them completely when you're in an intimate relationship with them...it's no expression at all, and it isn't healthy. Any psychologist or therapist worth their salt will tell you that. Get it fixed before you drive yourself completely mad.
I hate how our society supports people bailing out of anything that's difficult instead of working at things. The greatest generation worked so well because it WORKED. It wasn't afraid to dare and to dream. It was honest, tough, and upheld values like politeness and respect. It knew that things would never be perfect, but if they wanted a diamond, they were going to have to work with some coal--and they sure as hell did that, and then some. Our current generation is a pile of lazy shit, both socially and mentally, and it's only getting worse. It's a de-evolution of the species and it sickens me beyond anything. Relationships break as soon as things get even remotely unpleasant. A few arguments, and bam: time to call the divorce lawyer. Some people get married like others breath air. It's pathetic. In line with this is the idea that the problem with most relationships today is that there's more than one person in them--meaning, of course, that the majority of society's misguided children are selfish pricks who are more into doing things for "themselves" than doing things for the good of everyone involved (which, if they'd clear the cobwebs long enough to see, involve them, too). We see this not only in relationships, but also in economics, politics, medicine, the environment, etc. The single worst affliction today that is endangering the entire human race isn't the swine flu; it's selfishness, and it, like change, begins and ends with each individual.
On that subject, I hate break-up slogans. Both parties involved, instead of trying to come to some common ground and either fix things or civilly split, call all their friends together on either side like they're getting ready to play a soccer match and spout trite, stupid, meaningless memes of support like, "Bros before hoes" or "sisters before misters", as though the repetition of those useless slogans are an incantation that makes one side more right than the other. Fucking up is fucking up, regardless of who supports you. Treating people like shit and then gathering an army of people to tell you what a good job you did speaks volumes of a person's character. And, on the subject of character...
I hate how alpha males rule the world and I hate how I can't deny that they deserve to rule the world. They mistreat women, they mistreat their friends, they mistreat themselves, yet they do so with a quick grin and a stupid laugh and society falls in love with them. Their women keep coming back night after night of cheating because, damn, that guy's hot. They become CEOs because, though they embezzled millions from the last corporation and put thousands out of work, they sure know how to work finances, huh? Values, morals, ethics, and the like are foreign to the alpha male. Maybe they've got the right idea. Maybe their destructive path is the right one to follow. People say they're just as empty as the rest of humanity, but, hey, they seem a lot happier. Maybe I should take a spin on the other side for awhile and see if they really are.
