Is anybody else tired of all the anti-SUV people using the Sacred and Holy name of Jesus, simply to sell non-SUV automobiles?

To me, using the Name of Christ, just to peddle a car, is about as blasphemous as one can get.

But that's just me.

There is a wave of anti-SUV activity and comparing SUV owners with those of terrorists.

That goes a bit far, in my opinion.

Then they say that Jesus considers it a "sin" to drive SUV.

Then those same people said they were responsible for setting fire to SUV's at several auto dealerships.

They said it was a "sin" against Jesus to drive an SUV, but it they did not consider it a sin to destroy somebody else's property.

Isn't that kind of hypocritial for a self-titled "Christian". Does that not go against what Christ spoke of when he preached "Love Thy Neighbor as Ye Self".

To me, using the Holy Name of Christ, simply to peddle non-SUV cars, is about as blasphemous as one can get.

LOL, sorry about that. I did not think my 1st post went thru, as I did not see it displayed.

I think Jesus would walk or take the bus.

What about the song that goes like this I think "Jesus is just a stranger on the bus, just a slob like one of us....". I don't know about the slob part but I think the common person theme is in accord with Christ's image. Can't see our savior in a Mercedes or a BMW.

Kurtch,

Yeah, he'd probably have a Honda Accord.
Hmmmmmmm....then again, if he liked "the convenience of a truck without the look," he'd have one of those evil SUV's (like me). 😛

Or he'd have a little fanny pack to carry around his metropass & change.

Joby, crushin'

Using the Sacred name of Christ, especially to peddle a car, is beyond redeption, in my opinion.

You may as well say Christ was a vegiterian and is a "sin" to eat meat, so "Where Would Jesus go Out to Eat At"?

It's stupid, if not immoral to use His Name like that.

It certainly is in bad taste and offensive to many Christians I think Ticklemaster750. I don't find it surprising that advertising executives would stoop to such depths, but you probably won't be finding many of them in heaven.

Well that's not our place to play God and judge who will enter Heaven or not....."judge not, lest ye be judged".

But you are right. It is in very poor taste.

I do believe that he would chose to walk. But that's me.

Despite the obvious facts...

...That SUV's are one of the worst environmental catastophies the American Industrial Machine has ever turned a profit on, that has little bearing on the fact that Jesus would either walk or ride a donkey. What would Jesus drive indeed... (heavy sigh)🙄

If people are going to use the Name of Jesus to peddle cars, then you may as well say....

"Would Jesus eat at Taco Bell or McDonalds"
"Would Jesus use a Gateway or a Dell"
"Would Jesus fly with Delta or Continental".

You see how stupid it sounds?

Well, of COURSE it sounds stupid! Taco Bell and McD's both suck, and he'd OBVIOUSLY get a Dell, dude! As far as Jesus flying, I'm thinking He probably has a farewatcher on Expedia or Travelocity.

Not only is it offensive, but using Jesus to advertise won't work on atheists like me. 😀

OOOOOOOOOO!!! What you SAID!

You're gonna drive in the express lane to hell in your big ol' SUV, ain'tcha? LoL! Don't worry, you'll have lots of us to keep ya company.:evilha: :firedevil :devil2: :jester: Damn, is it getting hot in here?

Boy have I noticed a trend around here lately. LOL For fear, I'll keep it to m'self for a bit longer! LOL

Dan, my SUV may very well be a horrible environmental catastrophe, but after playing tag with a Lincoln Navigator two years ago that left the bumper of it literally on my forehead after ripping my small fuel-efficient car to shreds,....well, I'll keep my 4x4 till they can give me something made with a frictionless surface that will slide out of any harmful situation! OTHER SUV's on the road are a horrible environmental catastrophe to my very body! 😛 No worries, I drive very little actually. I prefer to pollute the world with AIRPLANE fuel.

So, not to be dumb sounding...but did I miss the reason for the whole thread? I thought ti was just another comedy thread which is why I popped in. Is someone really using this ploy?? I can see it now...bumper stickers that have WWJD on them.🙄

Well Just When I Thought I Had Seen It All!

Now I have read the pharse "What Would Jesus Do"
But what this What would Jesus drive? I mean C'mon!🙁 🙄

Well, I'm shocked that no one has thought of this one, but Jesus would drive, but he'd use a car that changed water into fuel, and back to water for exhaust!

Smiley,
the devilish angel

Just to point out: The "What Would Jesus Drive" slogan is not the product of advertising executives trying to sell non-SUV cars, but of an evangelical group that opposes the use of SUVs. See http://www.whatwouldjesusdrive.org/ . If you consider it blasphemy, then take it up with them.

And environmental concerns aside, there are few things more infuriating than not being able to see the road ahead of me because the guy in front is driving one of those things -- especially if it's in the city or suburbs, where the roughest terrain the 4x4 will have to deal with is the occasional pothole.

Thanks for that link Shem.

I agree about 4X4's in the burbs. 🙄 Never made sense to me.I do drive my SUV around town, because I am genuinley scared to have my kid in an unsafe car. Also though, I tend to do alot of "woods" driving where a "normal car" can't go. Not to mention my galant can't handle pulling a boat trailer! LOL That would be an intersting picture.

Hmmm...What would Jesus Float in? Canoe? A air craft carrier?
Joby

Another problem with SUVs: they are detrimental to the war effort. The more oil we use up, the more we have to buy from the Middle East - thereby funding the likes of Osama and his boys.

Imagine, before 9/11, trying to predict a set of circumstances that would make trading in an SUV for a smaller car both environmentally sound and militarily sound.

No knock against you, Joby, for you have a good reason to drive an SUV. Much better than "I like the seat warmer."

I dunno... Jesus might just drive some little 50 mpg, enviro-friendly, eggshell-like, Ford Festiva POS. Jesus never was one for flash, but walking might take a while, so why not use the modern-day equivalent of a donkey? Also, being that he's, you know, Jesus and all, he's probably the only being in the universe capable of surviving a crash in one of those damn little things! 😛

Whatever Jesus might drive,
I just don't care.
Gimme my F150,
and bad drivers beware! 😀 😛

FYI, Dan, I don't like SUVs either, but not because they're gas-guzzlers. A lot of people who drive SUVs don't ever take them off-road or load them up with passengers or cargo. Also, their size makes 'em hard to handle on the road. If you're going to drive a vehicle that needs a lot of gas and can afford an SUV, why not go with a luxury sedan or a sports car instead? See ya in hell, if there is one. 😀

What would Jesus drive???

Look at that hair folks, that beard... Jesus is the kinda guy that would drive a 1970 Chevelle SS with a 454 under the hood. Nothing but power baby, nothing but power...LOL
