What'd you have for dinner?

Well @ dinner time I was @ work

putting in my time, paying my dues to Canada revenue and the Ministry of Education( damn tution! LOL) I had a chicken breast, seasoned with garlic and herbs,on top of a lettuce salad, with water to drink. I'm a college student who dosen't have to cook for a lot of people so I usually go for the simple stuff, tho on the weekends I go all out and do the big dinner thing, inviting family and friends to dinner.

ANNN!!! You are eating Tracy's peas? LOL

I have been having difficulty sleeping lately and wanted to try a natural sleep aid. I was at a seminar at school on Tuesday called, "You Are What You Eat, how nutrition effects depression and anxiety" There were 3 women on the panel. One was a registered dietician and talked about how Triptophan is used by the brain to help with relaxation and serotonin absorbtion.

I decided to try a bit of turkey every night before bed. I went to the supermarket yesterday and wanted to pick up a small turkey breast. I do not like deli turkey. It is too processed for me. I know, I am high maintenance

Anyway, I could not find just a turkey breast, so I bought a whole turkey. The smallest one I could find was 14 LBS. That's a big bird for one person. LOL Anyway, it should be ready in an hour or so and that will be tonight's dinner along with a steamed red potato, salad and green beans.

I just wish I had someone to share it with. :dropatear

Homemade Chicken Barley soup w/ a nice tossed salad and some garlic bread.

PS...Jen, some places will cut up a turkey just like a chicken into quarters so you can cook a piece at a time and leave the rest frozen. I do that from time to time when the whole bird is too much. Turkey is inexpensive, delicious and easy to cook. I barbeque my bird outside on my grill and it is wonderful that way.

Judy,
I looked for it cut up and only found wings and drumsticks. Wings have too much fat and I am not a big fan of dark meat turkey. Anyway, it is now 9:34 pm and the turkey is finally ready. LOL I think it might have been just a bit frozen still inside when I put it in the oven. I hate frozen turkeys, but I cannot afford a fresh one. But, it is cooked through and I guess eating it now was the point anyway. My new sleep aid. LOL

Jen, that's because you went to a supermarket. Go to a butcher. There is a fantastic one not far from my store. They will cut to order on the spot, and they have the best product I've ever encountered. Friendly too. It's an old neighborhood store. Drop me a mail if you want more info.

Tonight I had baked fish, a salad with italian dressing, and hot italian bread. Nummy!

To those who are eating well on this forum...

Can I come over for dinner sometime?

Cheers.😀

Is it a lot more expensive at the butcher? Anyway, I have plenty for now. I will definitely contact you next time. Thanks.

I'm always interested in other people's eating habits, particularly b/c I'm getting to be a bit of a lardass myself (it's true!).

When I was young, friends would come over to my house, take one bite of my mom's spicy cooking and then look at me and say, "How can you eat this stuff?"

Conversely, I would go over to their houses for dinner, take one bite of their mom's "5 Star" chili or broiled chicken or whatever, and ask for some cayenne. LOL

So...what'd you have for dinner tonight?

Cheers.😀

Well, I am having my dinner right now (well actually lunch/dinner.... hey would that be called "Dunch") Anyways I am enjoying a bowl of Ramen Cup-of-soup.

That was my staple when I was on my own and was all we could afford and my best friend/room-mate had it for lunch and dinner every day. You can feed yourself quite well on that stuff, and it's cheap too.

Of course it's also caked in sodium and other stuff my doctor tells me to avoid.

Re: Re: What'd you have for dinner?

It seems to me that members of the female persuasion on this forum have a sort of sensual relationship with food, whereas the guys just wanna get stuffed, no?

Guess that's one urban myth that's true...
