I'm seeing a lot of praise for Close Encounters. I don't wanna step on any toes here but I found the movie to be extremely boring and doesn't really pay off that well. If I remember correctly the ship comes down in the end and flashes some lights back and forth with the humans and leaves and thats it. Tell me if im forgetting something. Maybe I'm just too young to apprieciate it with all the new alien movies, but I saw it once and vowed never to let it waste hours of my life again. lol

It's really about the journey leading up until the point where they come, the guy wondering if he's going insane or what's happening to him as he has all these crazy experiences and feelings and visions. I loved it.

If you're really hungry at the time, the mashed potato scene is pretty good. He didn't add pepper, but still watchable.

Stand by Me is a friggin' classic.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind is one of THE very best science fiction movies. Ever.

For my money , though , I gotta go w/Jaws. This movie delivers in just about every manner possible & still holds up well almost thirty-five years after its original release.
