Who here has been adbucted?

I was watching a documentary about UFO sightings and they said a fairly large percentage of the population believes they've been adbucted by aliens, so I figure we must have a few here. Raise your hand if you've had a close encounter of the third kind...

I know a lot of people are going to want to say stupid things in this thread, but please keep it to a minimum, because I'm genuinely curious about this.

I've done some abducting :jester:

Serously haven't had an abduction, but I've had the feeling of someone being in my room in the night! Not quite the same I know................... :xpeepsofa

If my buddy Ill took a chance so will I. There were a few times years ago when I think I tried to wake up but couldn't move or open my eyes and there was sound like a high wind. I just couldn't open my eyes. Don't know if it counts but a year or so ago I watched a TV show about abductions and some people had the same story. So you tell me 'cause I just don't know.

I've experienced that, and so has a friend of mine. It's called sleep paralysis. When you dream, your body is paralyzed to keep you from acting out your dreams. Normally, your body wakes up before your brain does, but sometimes (more often when you're on your back for some reason) your brain wakes up first and for a few moments you're aware of being paralyzed. Some people, in that state, are still dreaming and they experience visions. That part has never happened to me, but it's very common.

Ok never had a close encounter but I love watching the specials on it. I totally think there could be other living beings on another planet maybe not anywhere in our galaxy but maybe another galaxy.

What I'm curious about is why these sightings are always in New MExico Arizona and Texas!!!!

There are currently 5 levels of close encounters.

1.) Close Encounters of the First Kind:

Is discribed as the sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO).

2.) Close Encounters of the Second Kind:

Is discribed as the presense of unexplainable phenominon associated with the presense of UFOs. Examples of this are debris from a UFO, crop circles, local terra firma being distorted, burned, bent, discolored, wildlife being spooked, etc.

3.) Close Encounters of the Third Kind:

Is discribed as the witnessing of an alien aircraft and it's occupants at a distance and no contact is made. Aliens are often seen surveying the area, taking soil and plant samples, or even mutilating cows and other livestock.

The movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, is actually an inaccurate title, as the aliens do communicate and physically interact with the humans, and so fall under the follow categories.

4.) Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind:

Is discribed as physical interaction with an EBE (Extraterestrial Biological Entity). This category is the most common, as it includes abduction, artificial insemination, the taking of ova samples, and other tests and procedures.

5.) Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind:

Is discribed as the physical, mental, and/or spiritual contact and communication between a human being and an EBE.

This is naturally the most extreme of the 5 phases, and it is often combined with Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind, and is often introduced through Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

From this list, you can better decide for yourself and discern where your contact ranges at.

Possible abductees should be aware that many aliens use what is called screen memory in order to mask the memories of the occurance. While therapy and hypnotic regression can often undo this, or it happens naturally over time as the effect degenerates, it is presumably done to initially keep you from going into shock. This would imply that the aliens were benign and didn't want to freak you out or truely harm you.

In cases where they determine you can handle it, they do not use screen memory or missing time, as they may want you to be aware of their presense.

Alternatively, some use it for the purposes of steath and to increase the chances of further abductions transpiring without incident or recollection.

There are several post-abduction signs and such that I'll post later if anyone wants them. 🙂

(And no, I am not a nerd or have too much free time on my hands. 😛 LOL)

COOL! Seriously didn't know any of that. Is there any like research on why they pick who they pick?

If there is it's merely opinionated conjecture (which is where the more silly conspiracy theories come from).

People were only willing to agree with the 5 phases of Close Encounters because it doesn't inject any personal bias into the situation. It simply states the phases and what occures in them.

EDIT:

To give you an example though, I guess you say they choose individuals from a bloodline and keep abducting people from your bloodline to see where evolution takes that particular line.

Many people believe that aliens have been abducting people since the beginning of the human race, and keep very vast records of each bloodline they've watched over. Some even believe they may have tampered with our biological development.

This explanation also explains tracking devices and implanting their subjects (so that no matter where you go or where you are, they can keep track of you).

It is commonly believed that a person is never abducted just once in this case, but possibly many times over the course of a lifetime. This would explain their need for updated and current data as you age and your body changes.

But wait a minute...don't they erase your memory after those abductions? I mean, how would you know if you can't remember?

Also, why do we always assume that Aliens are going to be the same size as us? We might have been visited by really really tiny aliens a bunch of times. I mean, it's something to think about...aliens...the size of molecules. Hmmm...I wander what a close encounter with them would be like...

Not necessarily. Who knows whether they have the time for it. What they do is screen the memory by replacing the event with something fimiliar that you will instinctively trust (like a birthday party). The thing is, sometimes the logic of the person uncovers the fact that this memory never happened, or the effects of the memory buff wear off sooner than expected.

Also, incidents which trigger flashes and images of the abduction are common. People look at skulls and insects for example, and have a suddenly unexplainable fear. This is not to be confused with a phobia that was already there. The typical grey alien has big, black, almond shaped eyes.

A skull looks as though it has black eyes, and insects often have big black eyes. The imagery of these things has often times triggered memory lapses and the screen memory fails or weakens.

People also try to make sense of missing time. Some try so hard that their subconscious reveals it to them in their sleep.

Another example of screen memory failing is if you have a doctors appointment, and you suddenly develop a fear of being in a chair, in a room, with medical instruments, and figures looming over you.

Traumatic events, or near life or death experiences may also unlock the memories.

There are several ways the memories will resurface. But for every case where they do, theres thousands of cases where they don't and people never find out about it.

We also could have been visited by invisible aliens. It's also possible we have aliens among us (hybrids and such).

The idea of microscopic aliens isn't as crazy as it first seems.

Technically though, they wouldn't be a close encounter of any kind, because you are not aware of it or them.

It is truthfully easy to brush off this thread but I to have been in a dream state and became aware that I was in a dream and tried to wake up and found that I could not. Somehow it was both scarey yet it was fun I must admit. One dream ive had for years is going back to highschool as an adult and fooling the teachers and students that I was a teenager Ive had those dreams for years and now Im at the point where Im about to graduate and its August and the summer vacation never seems to come thought the teachers keep telling us it is. Sort of a twlight zone hight school hell. But as far as aliens well I enjoy the stories of it happening to other people and I used to listen to a radio show here in NYC late at night on WBAI and it was fun to hear people talking of being abducted on the radio late at night as your laying there in the dark. Its weird that radio show host died 2 yrs ago. Or was he abducted?

Actually, this is a pretty common phenominon. I forget the technical name for it, but it's very much akin to lucid dreaming and may have nothing to do with aliens or abduction at all.

I am at an advanced stage where I can play, pause, edit (both take out and put in), fast forward, rewind or slow-mo the dream as I choose. I can also end a dream and enter into another at will. I can also tell myself to wake up and I will, even if I seem trapped (as in a nightmare). There have been uncommon instances where I've been asleep and I could control my body as if I were awake. Unlike sleepwalking, there is that control. I can even make myself feel certain sensations while asleep and when I wake up.

The distinguishing trait of this ability in people is that they are aware they are dreaming. Its believed people, when asleep, are in an astral state in their mind, where nothing is impossible. This also has ties to the psychic phenominon, but thats another subject entirely.

Agreed. They could even be....mice?

Sorry, Jeff. Had to get that reference in there. lol Actually, while I don't think I've ever been abducted, I do believe that we aren't the only ones here. It's one of many fascinating topics to explore.

Being an avid fan of The X-Files, I've given much thought to the plausibility of alien visitation. I know the X-Files is Hollywood sensationalism, but it does get one thinking.

I also wanted to thank Celtic Emperor for sharing his knowledge and understanding of such things without the sensationalism. Like Jeff, I too find this topic fascinating.

For myself, I've never "felt" like an abductee, but a while ago, BigJim posted a thread which included website where you could take a test to determine the likelihood of your ever having been abducted.

My score said that there is a 64% chance I've been abducted. The only higher scorer I noticed was LK70 with a 66%.

Hmm....both with scores in the mid-60s....both have 70 in the name...There's GOT to be a connection! :xpulcy:

Well since the abduction test came up I'll weigh in. I don't believe I've ever been abducted simply because I'm quite sure I'd remember (that's arrogance talking, but still). I do think, though, that we're not the only intelligent life form (talk about arrogant). I can't begin to imagine all the possible forms aliens could take and speculation like that is better at night 🙂

I'm also not convinced they've ever bothered with us at all. (shrug)

Though i believe in the concept of off of earth intelligent life forms, i think they have better things to do than explore my anal canal

I've never been to Roswell but a friend says it is nice.

Yeah, I was abducted, and then the aliens shoved a massive probe into my ass and since that moment I've been shitting in all colours of the rainbow.

sell it, color poop may have a market

My best friend and I had a close encounter one night. We were in the
town over from ours and saw a round object, kind of a classic saucer
shape, with the lights around it. We both got a weird feeling that it
was a UFO, and when it seemed to move, we turned the car around
and followed it to our town. It seemed to stop, to hover, and we pulled
the car into a turn-in and watched it for .. a while. It seemed to sit
there, hanging over us, and then it disappeared. That may have been...
20 years ago. I don't know of anyone else who may also have seen it
that night, but we both occasionally bring it up with each other.

Bah!

I waited four whole days to see if someone would fess up to being "probed" and nobody did!

I'm going back to my tinfoil hat appreciation group. At least those guys have the guts to fess up and acknowlege that everything on this earth is a conspiracy...Like the people hiding behind my mirror. Unfortunately, every time I rip it from the wall, they press those damned buttons on their government issued armbands and turn invisible. :ranty:

I don't think we have too many abduction stories up here in my neck of the woods.

Not that I know of, anyway.

Never had a close encounter, but I'm waiting.

The closest thing I've had to sleep paralysis is the once in a blue moon when I wake up to find both my arms fell asleep. I have to sit up and try to shake them awake...

What I do find intriguing is the volume of interesting footage of UFOs -- things that are performing maneuvers impossible for traditional aircraft (and that should kill a pilot with the g-forces, were there one inside), like some of the stuff recorded over Area 51 before the gov moved all the good hardware.
