why are some ticklish people not feather-ticklish?

So you have two people both ticklish, a feather makes one laugh, but not the other? Why is this? Why do feathers have zero impact on some ticklish people? :dog:

There are people that are only ticklish to a firm finger tickle, a light finger or feather does almost nothing. Everyone's skin is different, I've only met two people who were feather ticklish and even then it was certain body parts. Actually I've found feathers work better deepwe into a session because the body is already primed for tickling, some of it us certainly mental.

Not sure but I suppose it depends on their skin sensitivity, circulation and state of mind ie. feeling relaxed.
My wife is VERY feather ticklish especially on her feet. As a matter of fact the more gently her feet are tickled the more ticklish and sensitive she gets.

It does make you wonder.....why are feathers associated with hysterical tickling? When most (that we've seen....) don't seem to be? Anyone want to do a masters, or PH. D. thesis? Naw, didn't think so....... ((and, who would fund it???))

This is my first time commenting on a thread, so here I go. I personally burst into laughter no matter how, as long as it tickles. If it tickles, I laugh. Make sense? I suppose people have more sensitive skin, and that's why some do, and some don't

Im feather ticklish. Not to the point of uncontrollable panic and hysterical laughter but one can get me laughing pretty well from it. Use the quill end and the panic starts lol

Welcome aboard, Lisa!

Yeah, it's a pretty simple answer - think of tickling as a slide rule. On one end, some are not ticklish at all, and at the other end, some are so ticklish a soft feather could make them laugh.

What would be just as interesting (I think) is if the lee was blindfolded and not told what implement was being used, could they tell it was a feather? Over say, a q-tip...
I think that a feather in general has a tickling connotation. Course, I'm biased... no doubt.

I think a bristly paint brush would likely produce more results. Just an idea.

could depend on the ler and the method, type of feather if the feathered part dosn't work try the quill end, sometimes environment and mood play a significant role,it may not do it for all people, the first time a feather is used together with a blindfold will work for most people

I think feathers work. Prolly not on the feet, but on the back, the sides and between the legs. It's not so intense, but a wonderful erotic tickling.

I find that feathers do work very well when properly used. If I stroke my wife's soles with a feather I get no response, but if I drag it between her toes it drives her up a wall. I had a tickle session with Lolo a while back and she is pretty ticklish, however, when I stroked her neck area with a big fluffy feather she safe worded almost immediately. She told me she couldn't stand the feather tickling, and when the session was over, she was going to throw them away lol

People are completely different to one another with respect to ticklishness and so it's a unique, subjective experience for each one. Sometimes feathers can work really well on a person who is extremely ticklish but they can also work on people who don't respond well to hard tickling. I've known people who find that brushes or fingernails actually hurt (and so don't tickle), whereas feathers tickle - I also find they can work through nylons in a lot of cases. For some people, light tickling is the worst!

I've also known people who are insanely ticklish, where the feather does nothing at all as it's too soft for them. Really, it's a bit like saying why are some people more ticklish on the backs of their knees, or their necks, arms etc than others...it's just the way they're put together!

I agree with what a lot of people have said before, some people are more ticklish in certain places than others and some respond to lighter tickling more than others
It's a different experience for everyone

I'm rarely feather ticklish, only fresh after a shower and crushing on someone. use the quill end and I'm hysterical. part of it is temperature. I go barefoot a lot and my feet get cold but it keeps the rest of me from over heating. nails, chopsticks(esp between the toes) sticks and any other tool will work but usually not a feather though they are a good visual and verbal tease....

Feathers don't do much for me either. Soft-brush or finger tickling.

its not that I'm 'not feather-ticklish', its just that it has a very minimal effect.
Feathers don't induce laughter for me, maybe force me to smile and blush a bit, but its such a weak sensation.
I find feathers to be just too soft. something so light barley touching my skin isn't going to do much...
compared to nails raking across that same area...theres a major difference in my reaction! haha

Some are but I think it depends where...i think its because it's too soft.
