Why Do You Come To TMF?

Recently, many members, myself included, have posted they were leaving. Many people respond by saying, "You will be back. Everyone comes back". It's true. Most DO return, even though when they left, they said they were not happy here. What is it that you get from being here, even though it is not always a fun or happy place to be?

I asked myself that question before returning and my answer is that I feel I still have unfinished business here. I have my own personal quest in the tickling community. It is personal and not something I care to share with everyone. Those that have shown me that they are worthy of my trust, know what it is. But, basically I am looking for a safe place to do something that I need to do. That is the reason I post about safety and how to's so much. I am trying to create that safe place for myself and if I happen to help someone else on the way, that's just great.


So, my question is, why do YOU come here?

I need to socialize with people who share my interest. AMT is no place for that. I don't have access to the AOL chatrooms anymore. And besides, TMF reaches a broader pool of ticklephiles.

Unfinished Business

The question of "Why do we come here?" is certainly an interesting one and if it has been asked within a previous thread, I must have overlooked it. I have asked various people this same question in the chat room, and although the answers are as varied as the people who go there, one commonality seems to emerge: curiousity.

But your question was, 'Why do I come here?' rather than why others come here, so others who choose to can speak for themselves. I come here largely because I have followed the evolution of the 'tickling community' for more than 30 years. I have not been a major player in recent years, and by today's standards, I have never been a forceful influence on the community as a whole. I do hope, however, that I could be described (and possibly remembered)as one who has helped 'sustain' the community over the years.

So, for me, perhaps a better question is 'Why do I keep coming back?'. There was a thread some time ago which asked if tickling was a compulsion for us. I and a few others admitted that it was a compulsion, a compelling motivation, to continue seeking both material related to tickling and people of similar interests. In that sense, a major reason for coming back, again and again, is to find visual examples of tickling as yet unseen, to hear a laugh yet unheard, and to converse (in the chatroom) with someone who has not been previously encountered.

The internet, and this forum in particular, has allowed me to experience the one-to-one interactions that were so lacking in the earlier days of the tickling community - the days when all but a very few kept their feelings locked away and thought they were somehow 'strange' because of those feelings. In thirty-plus years of observations, I have seen the community evolve in ways I would never have dreamed of, and most of that has been very positive. Even though I have no real 'unfinished business' or agenda at this point, I believe I will continue to come here, simply because 'here' seems to be the center for communication on the subject of tickling.

At this point, for me personally, it is a bit of an experiment - to see just how long my interest in this subject will continue at a significant level. Beyond that, I have made numerous friends within this environment, many of whom I would not want to lose contact with. And along those lines, perhaps there is still an element of hope...the hope of finding that special tickling partner, the quest for which has been so elusive over the years.

I seem to have a talent for 'tying the final knot' in certain threads. I hope that being one of the first to respond here does not have a similar effect on this thread.

Long time no see, harvey! 🙂 Adressing your point above: You're one of the few people who can wrap up an issue in a few precise words, and often there's not really much new to say after your posts. Consider it a compliment! 🙂

Why do I come here? Similar to harvey, I've been interested in tickling for about 30 years now. Finally I've found a place where to talk with likeminded people. It's like finding a new cozy restaurant or bar where you can socialize and feel at home. I've found friends here, and I even had the chance to meet some of you face to face.

Apart from that, it's a place where I can share my tickle stories. Writing about tickling has always been my favorite way to cope with my tickle fantasies, and much of my writing actually happened long before I knew that other people do the same.

So, regardless of a few troublemakers, the TMF is my choice of place to feel comfortable with my tickle fetish. 😎

Excellent. Succinct and to the point. For much of my life I felt like an outcast for my interest in tickling. Here that is the norm, so I get a feeling of acceptance.

Many of you folks have kind and caring natures. I don't get to see a lot of that in my real life, but I like exposure to it when I can get it. Also, as I read more and more of other's thoughts I came to see that I was interested in their opinions on other issues as well. Consequently, I read the general thread with as much interest as the rest of this forum.

I think we're all here as we not only get to be amongst our own, but we can also allow our imaginations to run riot with fanasty and ambition. Furthermore, I also enjoy reading other's experiences, and seeing how far some people can or won't go.

Believe me, since I first came here some two years ago (I've been posting for about a year), my...(struggles to find the right word)... 'take a chance' level in relation to tickling people has gone sky high!

Add to that the stories, mpegs etc, and you get to see that not only are you not alone, but there's a big world of ticklers out there, which I, for one, am happy to be a part of!

Well, I've been here for a long while, and spam and flame wars can be dealt with here (unlike the AMT, which I have NEVER visited). Plus, this is the best place for ticklephiles to visit. Sure, there are assholes in this place (but I won't name them), but they just want attention by annoying others, so I tend to ignore them anyway. Besides, many of you here rawk!

The Tmf brouchure i got said fun in the sun. Plus free snacks. I'm still waiting for those. Until then i just post pics and interact. I'd be lying if i did'nt say that the i'm leaving and never coming back threads did'nt annoy me a tad. Right or wrong i generally view them as a cry for attention. I will say that some can come from burnout though. I will never put a i'm leaving and never coming back thread up. When i'm miffed or tired i just take time away. It seems to do the trick. Don't get me wrong i dont mind the threads where people say they are taking time off. People like to know whats happened if someone isnt around for a while..like a vacation or getting busy at work or burned out. I just dont like the i'm offended, everyone hates me i'm taking my ball and going home posts. Thats just me..my views ar'nt always popular.

In all seriousness, though, I come here because it's a place filled with interesting, like-minded individuals. It's a great spot to discuss our common interest(s), obtain useful advice, and even engage in the occasional spirited discussion. 😉 Not to mention the almighty chat room. 😀

I think why I come here is why many people come here: to share discussons and experiences with like-minded people. Not everyone gets along, but that is life in general. You interact with the friends you make and ignore people who are not being pleasant.

I hate to see people go who are contributing members of the community. If one ignores the trolls who are posting smart ass immature stuff, they generally go away.

Friends are too important to leave behind.

I come here for many reasons...

to learn more about tickling techniques, to chat with good people, and simply for entertainment. I've made some good friends here (including the lovely lady who started this thread), and I've learned that this community is a microcosm of the world at large (big surprise there, but hey, I'm a bit slow to learn at times! 🙂 ). We argue, we disagree, but most of the time we're here for one another when someone is having a rough time...but I digress. 😛

I met kwildoctr here, and I know others have met their SOs here.

Most of all, though, I come here to shed a little lite on things! (Okay, I know; that was lame. What did you expect from someone who wears "Hello, Kitty" slippers?)

Great thread!..There are many reasons why I come to the TMF but I would have to say the primary,strongest reason is that by coming to the TMF that I KNOW for a fact that everyone who is a member here Definitely has a SINCERE interest in Tickling in some form or all forms,elements .It's wonderful to read and know that I am a part of many people female and male that have the same daydreams and that my brain isn;t the only one that wanders to my favorite subject,expression Tickling 🙂..Just can;t wait to meet some of you ticklers,ticklees in person so I can hear your laughs LOL.. 😀 Laurie

I discovered TMF because I was bored this one afternoon, and put "tickling" into the Google. My beautiful, wonderful tickling fetish would've sustained my interest in this site for at least the first couple of days, but the reason I've stayed is because it's a fun place...a place I look forward to visiting every time I log on. Of course, at times I shake my head sadly at the way some people are so incredibly off the hook with this stuff, but overall, I have a grand time here. It's a good place to let what's left of what was once a great head of hair down...

Back when I was a lurker, I came here simply to leech off of the media that people posted. I liked the pictures, and the links to other sites, an' what-not.

When I registered, it was solely to promote Ticklish Situations. I honestly thought I was on the verge of getting the sucker finished in a timely fashion, but life has a habit of slapping you down when you make assumptions such as those.

But still, I just kept hanging around. Nowadays, I don't really know *why* stay. Probably for the kinship. I literally cannot share this interest of mine with anyone in my normal life, not even my wife. So this is my retreat when I need an outlet for the tickle-demon.

oh, and I'd be really surprised if Tron was the *only* male member of this forum who wanted to meet and tickle a fellow TMFer. I've done it once, and would love to do it again. So yea, serious inquiries only, n' stuff.
