His Sarcasm sucks. The guy had to come back and say 'oh I was being sarcastic'. It's like insulting someone, waiting until someone takes offense to it and quickly adding 'Oh but I was being sarcastic'. If he was being sarcastic people should be able to tell, he wasn't being sarcastic so no one could tell.

It was quite obvious to me that he was being sarcastic well before he had to clarify it for someone who apparently didn't realize it. And I can't believe I'm the only one to whom it was obvious. Why would someone say they were being sarcastic if they were being serious? And why assume "it must be a habit"??? Talk about cynicism.

Frankly, my impression is that some people at this forum have next to zero sense of humor and just seem to be going out of their way looking for something to react to with hostility, like a form of "road rage" or something. I really think some people could afford to lighten up a little and remove the chip from their shoulder.

But I suppose you'll now accuse him of lying about that to cover for himself too, otherwise you might have to admit that YOU overreacted to a whimsical comment.

I'm not anxious to think the worst in people, but if you honestly have to come in and explain to people you were being sarcastic than somethings wrong. If it's obvious than it's obvious, if its not than it's going to be brought up. People can have a sense of humor. Believe me look at my 'Anime' review. Me and my partner both have a great sense of humor. I talk like a robot and he makes fun of me for it. I wasn't overreacting either. I was reacting normally. To me the statement wasn't whimsical. Okay, but the irony here is that it was clear to me that Artoo was making his comment precisely to MAKE FUN OF people with that attitude. I don't even know him personally, but maybe only because I've read enough of his posts here it seemed very obvious to me that that was all he was doing. So the irony is, you're jumping on him for having the same opinion you do but just expressing it in a different way. Some of us may express ourselves more naturally about some things in a humorous or sarcastic way, while others, perhaps such as yourself, may tend to have a more serious type "demeanor" perhaps. In that way I may be more like Artoo myself, so maybe that's why it seemed so obvious to me. But in "judging" people's words, I think it's fair to take into account their intent, and again, the irony to me is that he was actually expressing exactly the same point of view as yourself, but simply in his own way.

I just don't see how it hurts to be willing to give people a little benefit of the doubt, rather than immediately jumping to the most negative conclusion. But then, from what you've said, perhaps this was as much based on some previous issue you've had with him.

Agreed, and I apologize for whatever part I might have appeared to play in that, even though it was for exactly that reason that I was trying to clarify what some seemed to have misunderstood, that people were "attacking" someone for expressing the exact same point of view as their own. 😉
