Why people think that ticklingfans are perverts?

Whenever somebody likes something that isn't "normal" they must be labeled "weird" instead of just different. It doesn't really matter though. They can call us perverts and freaks all they want, but they're the ones prejudging because they can't accept something different.

Yup, I'd definitely agree with tk9. Being different's just... different 😛 and makes it so that people can label us negatively, whether we're like one of dalekfire's ticklephiles or not.

I think, yeah, it's because there are enough people who use tickling in perverse ways that other people see them and think the rest of us are like them in that sense.

Oh sure! You say that NOW! Just wait'll they round us all up and deport us to Pervert Island! Then we'll see who's laughing! ::cue dramatic score::

Do we also get spanked and handcuffed? *offers my wrists*

And that's just the beginning! Oh, the terrible torments! There's naked pie-fights, forced orgasms, jello-wrestlethons, endurance orgies...it's hell I tell you, HELL!

People who think we're perverts are fuckin' idiots. I get no sexual pleasure from tickling. I just like to do it and see it. When I look at a tickling pic or clip, I don't start moaning, groaning, and touching myself. I just chill and look at it until I'm tired of it.

Yeah! I'm with him!

Except the part about getting no sexual pleasure from tickling... :umm:

lol, oh really? Never woulda thought, Rick... 😛 Hehe...

I think the main thing here is that there are perverts and there are non-perverts. Then, in the "pervert" section (using the term loosely), there are those of us who know how to respect others and respect our fetishes, and there are those of us who just...goes on a rampage with it, like with that happens on YouTube and with freaking everyone out without thinking about how it affects the major view about the rest of us. And, unfortunately, the major view seems to be on the latter part. The negative side. As is with all of of BDSM, I guess... *sigh* 🙄

A better question, in my opinion, is why a person would engage kinky, deviant, and perverse interests and then balk at being considered a pervert.

Methinks he protests too much....

Because we are perverts, duh. There are just those of us who have self control, and then there are the other 90% of the ticklingfans. 😀

Well in my case, as I've said, I'm referring to the literal definition of "pervert," in which people view our fetish as something unacceptable to society. Kinky, deviant, yes, that's what our fetish is, and I recognize and embrace that. That's what makes us what we are, and we shouldn't be considering it a bad thing...I agree with you on that one.

But indulging in "perverted" acts, true to the definition, in which it directly influences other people in a negative light and the one indulging has no understanding of the consequences of such an action...that's when I personally believe it could cause such negative feelings to fester within the vanilla community.

Control is key.

Of course it's hell... you never mentioned orgasm denials and strip-step-dance. 🙁

As far as tickling being sexual is, hell yes, it's sexual, and a lot, but so are many other things. The more diversity the better.

Okay, if you must split literal hairs. 🙂 While the term "pervert" may indeed be a somewhat more pejorative term in its literal sense, and may as well frequently be meant that way by those who might apply it to others in a serious way, I'm not sure it's quite that "cut and dry" even in it's most literal usage. For example, one source shown at the dictionary.com site lists these definitions for the verb "pervert":

per·vert /v. pərˈvɜrt; n. ˈpɜrvərt/
Pronunciation[v. per-vurt; n. pur-vert] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object)
1. to affect with perversion.
2. to lead astray morally.
3. to turn away from the right course.
4. to lead into mental error or false judgment.
5. to turn to an improper use; misapply.
6. to misconstrue or misinterpret, esp. deliberately; distort: to pervert someone's statement.
7. to bring to a less excellent state; vitiate; debase.
8. Pathology. to change to what is unnatural or abnormal.
9. to convert or persuade to a religious belief regarded as false or wrong.
–noun
10. a person who practices sexual perversion.
11. Pathology. a person affected with perversion.
12. a person who has been perverted, esp. to a religious belief regarded as erroneous.

Note that of these 12 definitions, only one makes an explicit sexual reference. Then there's this definition for the noun form:

pervert
noun
1. a person whose behavior deviates from what is acceptable especially in sexual behavior

(Note the verb form of "deviates.")

Then there's this, from the same page:

pervert (v.)
c.1300 (trans.), "to turn someone aside from a right religious belief to a false or erroneous one," from O.Fr. pervertir, from L. pervertere "corrupt, turn the wrong way, turn about," from per- "away" + vertere "to turn" (see versus). The noun is 1661, from the verb. Replaced native froward, which embodies the same image. The noun is attested from 1661, "one who has forsaken a doctrine or system regarded as true, apostate;" psychological sense of "one who has a perversion of the sexual instinct" is attested from 1897 (Havelock Ellis), originally esp. of homosexuals. Perv, short for sexual pervert (n.), is first recorded 1944.

These references suggest that the term relates to the "acceptability", or lack thereof, of sexual behavior. Note specifically the reference to homosexuality, which was once widely regarded, at least "publicly" as unacceptable, but, if anything, today it might be widely considered "politically incorrect" to regard it as such.

So, while at one time homosexuality was the act of a "pervert", and while it may still be so regarded by some, as homosexuality has become more "more acceptable" to many, in a manner of speaking homosexuality has become less the act of a "pervert" than it once was.

So, it might seem that whether or not a person "is" a pervert has as much to do with what is considered "acceptable" by others as it does with the person's behavior itself. Since its definition obviously has this "relative" component, I have no problem accepting its application to myself. That is, I'm no more and no less a "pervert" than any homosexual is or used to be. 😉

Why wouldn't they?

but seriously, you are already on the "damsel in distress" place ( what kind of place is that any how?) and they ask you if you are a pervert. You are already in a pervert area! what the crap? and don't expect every one to get the tickling thing. people are judging, not understanding it is that simple.

Something being perverted is all in the eyes of thee beholder and something being gross or sick or weird or odd is also all in the eyes of thee beholder.

So in other words what somebody might think of someone as a pervert that person that's being called a pervert might not think that his or her sexual likes are perverted at all. And so might not other people as well. It really all depends.

For example i love it when my girl farts and passes gas and i have a sexual nature to that. I have a sexual turn on nature to her farts and her bottom ingeneral :inlove:. And so some people might see me as perverted or weird for that because i love that but like i said it's just all in the eyes of the other people. Everybody is not the same.

And for every one person that thinks that your weird or a pervert for likeing Tickling or Feet or (fill in the blank). Thier is going to be also people out there that are totally okay and cool with what you like. And thoses are the kind of people that should be worth it not thoses others.

We are labeled as perverted, but there is a saying in my country. 'They build the nut house not to keep the crazy inside, but to make the ones that are outside sane.'

It is same for our case. Just cause they fail to see that they also have some sort of perversion we are labeled for we are minority. They need an excuse to justify their own perversions and make them 'normal, everyday thing'. I think it is all wrong... so called perversions existed from more than a thousand years by write evidence, and it was normal then. People today just have too many complexes about their sexuality 🙂

Well, to put my own two cents in... think about this.

What everybody sees as normal is the ordinary sex position, with a very few deviations from that. Supposedly, everything else is either deviant or perverted behavior to the ones who say they are 'normal'.

However, I would speculate that everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) has their own likes & dislikes. Some things the person has would think they are normal, and probably others they would think of as deviant or perverted.

Do those likes and dislikes make them that way? No. It's just different. Everybody has their own mindset as to what is good or bad for them. Don't get me wrong, I think some of the things I've seen on the internet turn my stomach. But again, it's from my mindset. And no, don't ask me what unless you want to be grossed out in a major way.

So, with those thoughts in mind, which ones are the deviant ones? The ones who have diverse likes & dislikes? Or just the ones who keep things in the 'normal' mindset, afraid to admit their own desires? You make the call.

As for myself, I can say that I don't think I'm perverted. Deviant, probably, but not perverted. However, it has had detrimental results for any kind of relationship I would like.

I think your saying's really neat! - and apt, for this situation! :super_hap
I like your definition of it too, it seems really good, interesting, and neat.
You seem to be pretty smart and everything. (Just in my opinion, that is...) :super_hap:ggrin:
