Will certain groups of humankind realize they wasted their lives hating only afterit is too late. 😀

Nice to see that everyone is so eloquent today. 😉

"I am so all-American I'd sell you suicide..."

Well, the irony of this question is that even if race, religion, standard of living, culture, and political orientation were the same throughout humanity, we'd find new ways to discriminate against each other. Gender discrimination is a good example of this in the U.S. Essentially, we seem to have an innate need and desire to criticize each other's differences.

Learning to not be afraid of expressing your individuality and unquestioningly giving others the same freedom to express theirs, is a fundemental requirement for mankind to evolve mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Even when someone has a truely evil opinion about something, it's better out than in because then all the cards are on the table.

IT HAS NOW! :dogpile:

I suppose its hardwired in, as a survival instinct. Survival of the fittest and such.

Basic feelings of insecurity. That's what causes people to put down others. Makes them feel better about themselves in some strange sense. When we feel good about ourselves and who we are we tend to not put much attention on the differences of others and accept each other as we are. Needs work, but I truly believe we will head in the right direction.....

Certain groups? Every tribe of every nation has hated another. Its not bound to just some.

As far as it being possible, as a religious person, I say yes. And that will be when Christ returns. There is no "too late", although much evil will engulf all of the world before His arrival. The tribes split appart, and they will be united again. Its in the Bible, and even if it weren't, its something I would believe anyways. Although I wouldn't expect hardened racists, biggots, or athiests to understand or respect this point of view, but hey, thats what makes the world go round....go round as it festers and broods out of control.

This is like asking human kind to collectivley grow up and get over themselves, will it ever happen? I doubt it. You can always hope though, there's never any harm in that.

Yowch! I'm not an atheiest, but I know a few people think I am. Even if that remark wasn't refering to me, I think real atheists would be a tad upset about being lumped in with racists and biggots.

I think most people have at least one area where they are intollerant. Sad but true. The reasons are as varied as those who have them. Will we ever learn? As the human race...probably not. But, I believe and hope that individuals can and will do so. Most of those I've known over the years who are really nasty about these things are folks who see something in themselves that they don't like. Rather than looking at that, they often turn to point the finger at others to distract themselves from it. They just need to accept themselves first. Then, they might have a chance of accepting others.

There are some people I don't like, and go out of my way to avoid, but it's because of stuff they have directly done it me. It's not like "I don't like you just because your French/Italian/German/white/black/orange/purple or whatever, you know?

😀 Dr. Phil noted on his show that at one point in his career he got through to a racistedly minded male by having him and a black man stay in a room together for an afternoon. After the experiment/therapy/treatment/counselling was over Dr. Phil asked the white male? (I am assuming and generalizing)to tell Dr. Phil what it was like through the black man's eyes. Dr. Phil said in that instant it worked and Dr. Phil got through to him.

More than one for I suppose. I think my advantage is that at least I acknowledge them when someone points them out to me.

Thats what faith is for. Faith is stronger than hope alone. We judge how the world will react by what we've been brought up by and as the world presents itself. We think with the limitations of the human capacity. But things can change in a second if its so destined. While that likely will not happen so quickly, surely God can change it all just as easily as He created the universe and everything beside it.

It wasn't directed at any one person, and I certainly didn't mean to lump athiests with the lot. I only mentioned them because of my religious comments, and how those people might offer an opposing opinion. One that tends to be more worldly rather than Divine, or something of the like.

Sorry if I confused you, or gave you the wrong impression. Or wait...is that my fault at all?...Ah well, whatever.
