A billion or so years from now
3.8, actually.
is actually sorta a dire prediction for OUR ENTIRE GALAXY and EVERYTHING IN IT (sentient or otherwise). Apparently galaxies collide with one another in this little plane of existence we call the Universe (resulting in possibly INCALCULABLE LOSS OF LIFE). To make a long story short, the galaxy Andromeda will slam into our precious milky way in roughly less than a billion years or so.
lol
The galaxies aren't going to "collide" per se. They will pass through, disrupt each other and merge. The space between stars is so vast that it's incredibly unlikely that any of them will even come close to each other. So; no possible INCALCULABLE LOSS OF LIFE!!1!11!!!1!
What we should be more "concerned" about is the sun's gradual heating, which will reach an average surface temperature twice what it is now, in let's say less than 1~ billion years. This will lead to the oceans evaporating, probably leading to Earth becoming a Venus-like planet.
I hate to start a religious debate, but when the subject of the end of the world comes up, am I the only one who's mind goes to the bible, and how it says no one will know when the second coming will be besides God? Just sayin'
Yeah, it looks that way. The bible doesn't really give us any information that leads to any accurate observations or predictions of the universe, so I see no reason to lend it any credibility in the "end of the world" department. No debate necessary.
A little observation and math on the other hand, will get you pretty close. 😉
