Wow, this place is getting boring!

I still enjoy the Art forum, but mostly because I like art in general.

I am on Nerrad's and Rick's side on this, it seems to be frustrating to come here lately when wanting to find something really mentally arousing. Not having had a good argument in while is kind of boring. But it's also our own fault, no one is keeping us from posting those interesting argument starters ourselves.

...

You know what I miss, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this. I miss obsesive posters like LonelyKimiko keeping threads alive in good spirit, I miss Nessonite's posts and HDS' fun and lighthearted remarks. I miss arguing with Vladislaus Dracula and every now and then even with Nerrad 😀 I miss TimeWarp's rants!!! I miss Alchemy's posts!!!!!!!!! That's just of the top of my head...

Maybe it's us who stuck around after all this wonderful characters left that get a more nostalgic feel when coming around to the TT, newer members don't know how it used to be(to clarify, TimeWarp and obviously Nerrad are still around, but no more rants from TW and I don't see much posted by Nerrad lately, to be fair no much posted by myself either). The times they are a'changin...

Don't know, I guess that's my part of the rant.

I'm totally with Nerrad. I'm not one who likes politics and religious debate, but when it's kept in its own subsection, that's great. The people who want to go and have their gigantic flamewars, then at the end say, "Hey, great fight!" will have a ball like that!

The calls for it to be super-moderated are absurd and illustrate another point that's been hurting this place... why is everybody so sickeningly cutesey and sweet?

Nobody wants to be edgy and risqué anymore. It's all perfectly agreeable, completely consensual blandness. There's no interest shown in anything but consensual girl/girl tickleteasing between Japanese videogame characters anymore. It's the same things over and over and over and over again.

Violetta (some of you know that's Bella Donna, but some of you were never savvy enough to figure it out) gave up on tickling art because people just didn't seem to care anymore. There was crappy poser art, or Ilonoh's doodles to swoon over. Now there are crappy RPGs made with a scripting engine all because one guy made a little quick game.

The forum populace seems way more interested in instant gratification through limited-interest Internet Fame than they are with forming a community or participating in the forum at large.

To sum it up, it really seems to be all these kids who let their lives revolve around vidjagames and anime and being happy-friendly-consensual netizens yet emo-depressy-loser types in their personality. They really eat.

Everybody was thinking it. I just said it! 😀

Everyone.

EVERYONE.

If you're for how things were, take a step over this line.

Everyone else, GET OUT.

So is this thread a breath of fresh air for the 'stagnant' forum, or is it some philosophical debate on par with religious/political debates about how the forum needs to change and what people can do to fix it.

Or is every one just venting their feelings because it's the interwebs.

I lol'd.

I know I'm a newbie, and I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for this, but...you guys are being a little ridiculous. Okay, maybe the site's not how it used to be, how you remember it. Maybe it's gotten a little boring and things are stagnant and repetitive. But, honestly? Sitting here, complaining and having shit fits isn't going to do anything. If you want it to change, do something! Start a thread, leave a comment somewhere. Get a conversation going. Otherwise, it's just going to be more and more of the same thing, over and over again.

Just my opinion. Don't hate. <3

Are sub forums really necessary? I don't think that they would serve much benefit for the community. Perhaps to separate the... topics like this? from just talking ones, but aside from that I don't understand what benefit could be gained from a sub forum. There aren't many posts now, so I feel that it would end up like the writing one (largely unused). But then, I do enjoy frequenting that one, so hm. Well, do what you've gotta.

Could we get a new poll, though? For what, I don't know. Maybe a new poll to decide the new poll. Sounds like a plan.

Unless you're a stripper. That would... well, I guess they buy new poles in order to fund new poles? That sort of defused my joke.

I think what we really, truly need though, is a band of merry men. Like Robin hood, or some shit.

So who is up for putting on some tights with me (Oh grammar, you are so promiscuous! Five bagels to whoever gets that joke!) and tickling some wenches?

But yeah, whoever said it was right. It was probably Rick, since he usually says this sort of thing. If the forums lack life, go and put some life in there. Sitting around and bitching doesn't solve anything. /nod. But for the moment, I don't have anything to add to the site. I'll work on it when time allows. Bloody school.

Etc.

Oh bloody hell. Took me so long to write that post that someone else came along and said the same thing. That kind of hurts.

At least she props her feet within reach. Easily tickleable!

Etc.

Did I just get a shout-out? :blink

Hehe, it was time well spent. You said it better than I could've.

...and I don't see much posted by Nerrad lately, to be fair no much posted by myself either). The times they are a'changin...

I really wish I could get the urge to post more. I used to love making the photoshop goofs, doing people favors fixing their stuff when they post a wrinkled pic, or a picture of their gf so dark you can't even tell if her feet are anywhere in the shot. Or just general clowning around where it's called for... and then maybe chiming in seriously on something I may have some experience with. I've told ignorant people they should apologize, I've received pm's, both good and bad. I've probably jumped to quick on something I shouldn't have at times. Regardless... all that stuff makes for interaction.

And I should clarify... it's not the mods' fault this place is like it is recently. I can recall a few instances where newly appointed mods stepped in and gave a "Hey, don't make me try out my new authority...", but for the most part, they're only here to step in and handle when members are being mistreated and to keep the place legal as far as copyrights, age restrictions, etc. Other than that... they do a good job watching. So if these types of conversations aren't possible here, it's not because they prohibit it or step in and stop them. They step in when the issues get out of hand and that falls on the members themselves to behave.

And I don't know that the forum needs a political or religious sub section. How about just not shitting your pants and being obnoxious if the topic randomly comes up? Or being passionate, but polite, when stating your [obviously wrong] own opinion?

I have no idea what a shout-out is. Could you clarify?

Etc.

A shout-out is well, on the radio it's a song dedication. In other facets of life, it's an acknowledgment, it's kudos, credit for something swell done or for help given. (Hey, Urban Dictionary, is my check in the mail? 🙂 ).

As for tickling art, I used to just lurk and download, which I'll bet is what a lot of people do here (not so much the regulars but more the no-posters). I've made it my business to leave feedback, 'cos I now realize how important it is. Why would people post anything online at all if not to get feedback?

In all seriousness what are you guys trying to achieve from this rant? More activity? Tell people to get out? Get your way? just venting? Or saying what you want to say before you leave? And I am not trying to be a smart ass about this I actually do want to know.

Hey guys! Wow, this topic took off.

On the subject of having a potential P/R subforum moderated or not, let me pipe in with some experience. When I was a moderator on the other board, the topic came up a lot. How do we moderate it? Heavy? Light? Some members think it should be a free-for-all, some think it needs a lot of attention.

In the end, what worked the best was a compromise of the two. As much as I can get behind the concept and reasoning of a free-for-all environment, it's the functionality of it, not the free speech angle that makes me against a completely unmoderated subforum.

But, a "hands-off" approach works well. Even those who support an unmoderated one say that there are exceptions like death threats, etc. Well, someone's gotta know about that, right? And sometimes, PM's to staff can take a day or so to get a reply, depending on who's on. People do have lives. But, someone moderating the subforum can notice these things and react. And, there's much lass backtracking of "he said/he said/she said" for staff to have to fuck with (and not be of much help to the member) while finding out what happened.

But here's the thing. I do believe, and I'll stand by this, that the folks here can have disagreements and be ok with it. Pholks, I have a dear and close friend who I'd take a bullet for...and he's an extremely conservative Republican-type. I'm...well...not. We have heated debates on things all the time. But they're intelligent and if anything it at least gives us a chance to expand one's own point of view.

So, I do support adding a section for this...but again speaking from experience, I would be against it being totally unmoderated. More latitude given, perhaps. And that would take even-handed moderation, so it's give-and-take with the responsibility of staff/members.

My 2 cubits. 🙂

Facebook twitter and the likes will never take the place of the forums that we have in this community for they lack the venue for us to express that which we all have in common. The love of tickling. As it was said earlier in this thread, these things go in cycles. People get caught up in "real life" problems that may keep them away for a while, but usually they find their way back and post again when things work themselves out.

The forums are what we make them. if you are bored, come up with a way to liven things up, or perhaps take a short break away from it all and come back fresh. it can work wonders.

The theater has always been a comfy place to visit with a lot of fine folks to get to know. All forums have their share of those that would do anything to crap on the fun of others. ignore them and move on and enjoy what the site has to offer. This site has plenty to offer and I personally don't find it boring in the least. I do not post much here, but I visit often and have since the founder first put it together. All sites have their ups and downs, but that is becuse they are made up of people. All kinds of people with all kinds of things going on just like in any community.

Do what you can to get the most out of place by putting in what you can to make it better.

Don't know what anyone else is doing and I don't really care; I've been posting to threads to try to liven it up lately and am currently looking for ways to garner activity.

Hm, as for the comment... I guess it was a shout out? I saw my post put immediately after I posted my own, and was distraught, but then caught sight of a pair of feet. I mean, it's kind of a natural response; you see a cute pair of feet, are a little playfully mad about nothing important, so you tickle them. But, well, you have to respect someone willing to bare themselves to such thoughts, to be fair. It really is a shame that you can't tickle over the net - they need to fix that! - because I would have lunged at that moment.

Hm. Probably a bit too much. Man, I always say the creepy stuff!

Etc.

Yeah, pretty much. 🙂

There could be a multitude of reasons why the forum is not as busy as it once was.

I know when I was a new member here ( I joined 6 years ago) I was a member of only 1 other forum. My time was pretty evenly split between the two, even though I was a mod on the other forum.

I'm now a member of 7 forums (modding on 2 of them) and have a facebook page and profiles on two dating sites.

On top of that, my life has changed greatly. 6 years ago, I was a homebody. As of 2005 I've been doing a ton of traveling, and have been to 14 states and 4 countries. As a result, my time to be on the 'net has decreased, and priority must be given to the sites I mod on.

On top of that, tickling was a part of my last two relationships, and when those broke off, my time here decreased as well, as it was just a reminder of what I had lost.

The fights/disagreements you guys are discussing are nothing new. I've seen that type of stuff happen on every forum I'm a member to.

As other people have mentioned, FaceBook, MySpace and Twitter are how some people are deciding to communicate. I know that I've seen tickling pages on FB, but I've never joined them.

Well,if that's what they wanted I hope they're happy because they did chase someone off. 🙁

o speak for yourself..i find interesting new people here all the time..CrazyLikeaFox is wicked intelligent for his age..

personally i hang out on mydungeonspace....a much more intriguing place..you want the last of izzy..you've got it..

Ah, I wouldn't leave over a discussion. Especially if it's one or two people complaining or what-have-you. You have to be secure in yourself and have fun wherever you are. There's always gonna be people poking at things, that's the nature of the internet.

Well,it looks like she did.Haven't you noticed Izzy never misses a day and always posts something.Well, she hasn't done that in 2-3 days and pretty much said she was leaving.

Its interesting how most of people here complain about inactivity and being bored, but let me ask you one thing. What do you do to prevent that?

Last time I saw some trolls who complain contributing was when I was junior member and this place has just passed through 'Golden Era'. Oh goody. GOLDEN ERA, everyone remembers that period. 1500+ members daily. Well if you want that back I am sorry, but... you will have to move your ass around or die.

Complaining leads to nothing. I myself ain't the most active man here, but I am working on my way to bring this place back. You want fun place. Make it fun...

You know I swear I made a thread about the death of this forum long ago but I can't recall exactly what it was called....

Prediction much?
