My grandma grew up just after the depression so I guess maybe it's a bit older than dirt. When I had chicken pox as a kid, my mom or granny would fill a sock with oatmeal and tie it around the bathtub faucet. When the water would run, it would go through the sock. It was supposed to calm the skin and be gentle in case you're like me and have a ton of allergies.

US Admiral Halsey had a body rash just before the Battle of Midway c. 1942, and was in the hospital taking oatmeal baths. He was disgusted.

Ah, I gotcha. That wasn't at all what I was picturing; I had this image in my head of an actual bathtub full of oatmeal... X'D

The meteors crashing into the turbulent, red-hot surface of the freshly born earth, resulting in the creation of our lovely moon from ejected planetary material.

...You know, if you were literally older than dirt. XD

Chicago - I distinctly remember gasoline at 33 cents a gallon. And, if I remember correctly, that was "high-test" (premium).

Yep. And sometimes less when competing stations had "gas wars.' Then during the oil embargo in 1973-74 gas stations started posting prices by the half gallon because the old mechanical pumps only went to 99.9 cents. If they had any gas that is.
